Most people wouldn't think a few mm can make a difference but it does,especially if it's the other way and it's under.But now with that length you will be able to tighten it all up with the layout and it should look pretty damn close to how it should be.Thats my plan with mine,it won't be spot on but i'll get it as close as i can still.I'm not taring this engine section down again!All up it's been three re works for me also.I hope i improve on that over the course of the build,otherwise it's gonna be a real long painful build i feel.

It is a basswood frame and 1.5inch square steel armature ,that runs front to back ,side to side and top to bottom,and mountable from any of those points !.

Ha Ha Ha ! Sorry Phil no updates as of yet . First I had to deal with a death in the family , then family vacation time ,and now the past two weeks have been so insanely humid ,I haven't been able to do any painting on the model commisions that I have on the go .Nothing seems to want to dry enough to mask off for secondary colors .Hopefully by the middle of the week we will get some relief from a thunderstorm or two . We need a good thunderboomer to clear the air ! I am also in need of a few more kit parts to double check fittment before I start to glue anything down . Heller railings ,roco crane arms , roco crane bases ,and the jps lotus steering rack located on the top of the engine between the saturn v engine stages ,are some of the pieces that I need .
I will post some pics .The second I have any updates .I am enjoying the progress you and Jase and Mike have so kindly posted as of yet !!!!!!!!

Well ,I recieved my battlestar blueprints from Charles Adams on Monday , and I must say ,they are a thing of beauty . I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone before they tackle a ss battlestar build . They will not dissappoint!!!! i'm really stoked to get back at this thing now that I have these plans !!!!

Well the wombat i think is back again least i'm popping me head outa the burrow here and thats some great news also Ken.I'm glad you've got something now you can work with that is a little more closer to how it should be perhaps.I guess in all hindsight the plans should be the first step really?Anyway,you got em now and they are very close mate to how things need to be.You still need to do a little working here and there but overall they are a massive help.So i'm sorta curious also to what Doug asked,whats the plan now that ya got the plan's??

I will be rviewing what I already have ,and if it's not too bad ,then I will continue with what I have . if It's too out of whack ,then I will rebuild again ,this time with two inch round armature .

Thanks Ken,but i'm sure things wouldn't have been too much different in my absense.Unfortunately there doesn't look like there has been too much in the way of progress on the Battlestar builds.But hey,we all know this ain't an overnight build we are attempting but still,it's time we all get stuck back into em again.I hope to do that next weekend now,i was looking at getting back to it this weekend but it's not gonna happen.So the following weekend for sure,i think! LOL
With your build there,i think thats all you can do mate.Look at the plans and if things are close enough just go with that bud.You don't wanna scrap it and start again unless you find there is just too much working required to bring her into line..ish.See how it looks and if you do start again,just remember Jase and I ain't that far ahead of you mate,so you'll be up to where we are at in no time bud.Just see how it looks,thats all you can do!

Well , I actually had some time to myself , And decided to start my Pegasus build all over AGAIN . First order of buisiness , is the armature . I spent a few hours on Christmas day cutting the 2 inch muffler pipe to thier specific lengths.Then cleaned all the pipe openings of any flashing.Tuesday ,Dec. 28,2010 ... I spent a few hours building a jig for the armature to hold everything inplace for proper fittment while mig - welding all the cut pieces of pipe in place . Yesterday I welded all the pieces together while taking time to check for straightness and squareness .The jig worked like a charm , and the job took about 3 hours . I now have a proper armature and will be posting pics. as soon as i get some more batteries for the camera which seems to be a PIG on batteries !!!!

Well,this has been a big step in your build there Ken.Big in that it's really the start again of what you have already been through with V1.Still i think you are gonna be happier in the end that you decided to do it.Now theres nothing stopping ya mate,well,maybe some funds and a few years of ya life wont go astray.But ya off again with it all so it's all progress from here bud!!

Thanks Phil , always value your opinion mate . It should be a more accurate build with this armature and Charles plans ( Big thank you Charles )The sections should line up better as well as this armature is a lot truer in straightness and a lot more square on all the axises ,than the square tube armature on my original build . I had to change the outer skin measurements to fit around the inaccuracies of the armature and framing of the original attempt at this build . A big learning curve , but I now know what I am up against ,in this time around .With all the knowledge I have obtained from my fellow Big G builders ( yourself included )
, I now have all the ammo I need to tackle this project again , with confidence .

Well i think you will be pretty right this time,for starters you just have such good reference in the way of plans to work from that it's gonna make life that mach easier for you on what is not an easy build by any means.Having the confidence now that you have is a pretty important thing to have which is also good for us,plenty of progress will hopefully be heading our way soon.Also that you've already been through so much of the build with V1 then this time you'll just have things sussed betta how ta go about em.Least thats what i think anyway.

Well it has been a long time since i have done anything to the beast , but I have recently gotten ambitious enough to start back at the ol girl. Last weekend I had a rare weekend to myself and started working on a new engine box ! I have a few more things that I want to do to this section before I take any pictures ,but I will post some this weekend ....I promise !

Well my pics of the engine box progress is now on hold . My computer somehow picked up a virus and it is a nasty one . I am using

Have noticed the neck on the studio model is seriously asymetrical!
Charles backed my finding up & said its not fun getting the parts right if corrected(which he did for CR).
So another dilemma before evening picking up any tools.

If the goal is to replicate the original, I'd go for making it like the original even if not symmetrical or "correct". You will run into problems when locating the kit parts where things will get either jammed up and there won't be enough room and you'll have to trim parts to force them in. Or - you'll have too much space and have to decide where to add gaps. If you make it "correct" the only problem will be that from some views it could look weird, unless it's such a small asymetry that it's not noticable (sounds like it is). Just have to decide which of these you dislike the least, I guess.
I think duplicating those errors and asymmetries is a fun and challenging part of replicating the studio models.

thanks guys . Things are going a tad better this time around ,thanks to charles plans , some practice with the first attempt at an engine box , and all the very usefull info from all of the couragious artists who have taken on this type of project ( thank you all ,you know who you are ) I am almost done skinning in all of the engine ports of the rear engine plate ! The engine box is almost completely skinned in !! I am having fun again ,eeeeehaaa !!!!!

Sorry folks ,delayed again. An emergency at work postponed my day off on Sunday and I spent 8 hours working for the man ! On top of that the progress pics that i took and uploaded on my computer were all corrupted but 3 thanks to that nasty virus .Thankfully i was at least able to save my computer .I took more pics today but a lot of the build process is now history .i now store all my pics on a memory stick and later load them to disc . I don't want to go through all of this again . I also lost most of my bsg reference pics as well as personal and family pics . Lesson learned ,and this update is all that i have for now gents ,as I have a twelve hour shift tomorrow and hope to be posting again wednesday evening.

Well that just Fuckin Sucks!!
Things are good while they are working but as i just said,that really does suck mate.Damn,sorry to hear about all that,the family stuff especially,even more so than the build and reference.I myself have never backed anything up in my life either but over the weekend i set up and external hard drive to store all my reference stuff on just in case something like that strikes me.It's bound to happen sometime.Least now if it does i have a second copy that can be re loaded if it's required.
Gee,thanks also for your words on the CM my friend.I guess it turned out not too bad considering who the builder was.
It's something i'm pretty happy with even if i'm not entirely.As for the Gal,well theres been no progress on it,infact i'm not continuing with the build no more.So it's down to you guy's to keep up the good work now and that i do still look forward to seeing!

Well I finally got this shit sorted out and it took using someone elses computer to do it . My computer hates me ,and is currently back in the shop to get a attitude ajustment. Yeah boyyyyy! That looks tops mate. Love the engine ports. I have to do mine again..... I hate mine. Great 'restart' Ken. Lovin it. I will have some updates of my arms later. I too have a troublesome computer thats going to get an attitide rearangement with a hammer pretty soon. Keep it coming.

Thanks for them encouraging words Jase .It really helps with the motivation .Lookin forward to your updates as well . Computers are not my gig and I need them simplified as possible to use them ! I hear you about the hammer ,i was in full swing when the wife reminded me that replacing it would seriously cut into my build fund .I hate to say it , but was exactly right !!!! damn i hate when that happens !!!! LOL

You are well and truely on your way again,feel's good i bet?That looks really good what you've done up there and i personally believe you made the correct call starting again.Just a shame we didn't catch ya before you'd got so far along with V1.Anyway,this will be a ripper and more than worth of carrying the Pegasus nameplate!

That does look really good, Ken! What plans are you using? To my eye it looks right on.
The ports look great too. The bay front and rear caps and the ports are the hardest part of the build. One down, four to go.

Ken, that looks really good. Quite a bit for 14 hours of work. All the angles on the engine bays look really complicated. I like how you reinforced the corners on the back sides..should make them very strong. What thickness of styrene did you use?
