Oh i've been stuck on doing the hands on stuff pretty much but i've still been looking for things just the same. Not sure which can be the more frustrating one though really?

Moving right along, I've had a little bunch of parts sitting around since Christmas for the 'refinery' section on the top of the neck, so removed all the TB1 stuff I'd built before and used the correct railgun, er, railings instead.

VERY fiddly work, but it looks cool when done. I was joking with Phil today that I should use a couple of my 1/700 figures to show a little crew doing maintenance on the pipes! He suggested that they be Apollo and Starbuck laying charges on the hull (Fire in Space). The background plate in that episode showed this area when they were supposed to be on the landing bay.

Looking good mike. I like how the greeblies are held up off of the surface. Makes it that much more 3D.
Didn't you add in a clear observation dome that they showed on one episiode?

This is a cool looking area for sure! The layout in this area is probably one of my favourite areas i've done myself. Maybe not the work to get it there but the final look for sure. Another improvement on yours for sure Mike!

Work is continuing on the detailing saga of this beast. It's good to have the mojo back and get home from work looking forward to hitting the bench for a few hours. Looks like the South Aussies are moving ahead of the pack again.
Detailing on the starboard centre arm side trenches. A few Custom Replicas castings, original kit parts and a few substitutes for as yet unidentified parts that I don't want to wait any more years for. I like the detailing here, it looks all connected and functional.

Wombat scrounged up a few missing greeblies for me and now the neck wall is almost complete. Man, it's busy ain't it?

Last night I put back all the detail on the engine side. The rows of Roco mini tanks were and easy way for Apogee to quickly detail the engine section and make it look functional and like a big, er, engine.

All that bling is really going to pop when you do finally hit it with the primer. Looking real sharp there Mike and pretty damn clean work at that even though you are still using the squeezie glue there. Really looks impressive where ya at with it again now. Keep at it as at the rate you've been going again of late you'll have this pretty much done by christmas.. Thats christmas 2013 at that!!

Well, with a commander with some balls, the old Nova class type heavy is pretty easily able to take on a couple of those hamburger ships no problem. That'll wipe the smile off your shiny chrome helmets.

Hi guys, I've been quiet but I've been working!
I've pretty much finished the waist section and most of the rear arm detailing. The waist was tricky as I have more surface area there than needed, so had to spread things out to fill the space. I got away with it with only one extra greeblie.

Also been very busy detailing the entire bay side and trench. The inner trench details are mostly kitbashed in there as I have no clue what the really tiny parts are. I did the same for the port side and it looks OK. I'll leave the super accurate bay trenches to you rivet counters.

The newly completed piping on the front and rear arm. Due to the local hobby shop being more interested in stocking RC cars than restocking the brass rod section, I grabbed a bunch of fine spring steel used for winding custom RC car springs and used that instead! It's a bitch to work with, but glues down OK.

Awesome update Mike ! Reality of the filming miniatures is relative to what the book of battlestar galactica states . " No Two Battlestars Were Alike " ! I think the discrepencies only help which artists built which battlestars .

Yeah, sometimes I stand back and look at it and can't believe that I glued every single piece on there, one at a time.
I was thinking about the nameplates, maybe some sort of metal with magnets glued behind, inside the bay. I want to have lots of different names made up so I can swap them around occasionally. I am reserving 'Star Kobol' just because it's uber-cool. Just so you know.

How about a group buy of custom Battlestar dry transfer names? Maybe someone here could whip them up at the correct size in Futura Bold and we can get them printed up on an A4 sheet or similar?

Another idea would be to paint and decal fridge magnet-type material as name plates if you can get thin enough stuff? Might crack the paint if flexed though.

That may work if you can find that material thin enough. The flexing bit and paint cracking may be an issue though as you mentioned then it may not also. If you can find a small piece of it thin enough it'd be esay to find out.
Hows the rubber situation there? A small part i'll be needing back soon as all your incredible work has me moving on again. Well that and just burnout for looking for part's for too long. Bad news is this next area is the same, just theres less to find.

I think if you put a couple of small magnets inside the skin of the bay, in the name plate area. Then you could use thin sheet metal for the name plates. As long as it's steel it should paint fine, and be stiff so no paint cracking. Just don't get those super strong neodymium suckers. Cause you might rip the skin off your launch bays, LOL.

No worries Phil, by pure coincidence I happened to mould those parts last weekend!
Does magnetic paint exist? We could make styrene name plates and paint the back with it. They only need to sit there so shouldn't need powerful magnetic adhesion. Or they could be located with some pins into holes drilled in the bay, but that would be a killer to line up accurately when you think about it.

Hi guys, finally building my starboard rear end cap. So far it's taken about 5 hours just to construct and align the basic shell and top access hatch. There is a serious amount of work in just one of these! I'll get some pics up when I get home tonight.
Still looking for the two truck engine halves under the main body, parts 25 and 26. Anyone help.out with castings? Likewise with part 185 and it's opposite in the head underside trench.
