Thank you gentleman , for the very kind words and encouragement .
Mike the plans are from Charles Adams and were a huge help.
Doug ,the styrene for the engine box is 3 mm thick. Reinforcing the corners made it very strong.
The engine box actually took about 50 plus hours .The 14 hours is the total of work i have done since the enine box .
It consists of having the engine ports almost finnished with all the details .I just haven,t posted pics of the work yet !
I just need to get heller railings to finnish the job.

Dose anyone know what ( kit ) ship turret is used in the galactica's engine ports ?

I think we decided it was Heller 1/400 Bismark. But dont quote me cause in not near my ref to check.

The ones CR used are from the 1/400 Heller Admiral Hipper kit,i think.These will be the same in the 1/400 Heller Prinze Eugen kit also.I don't know if these are correct or not but they are what CR used and what i used in my engine port's also.Smile

Things are OK down here.Spending a lot of time in me burrow really,not much in the way of anything build wise happening lately though.

It's a good thing i can check up on the rest of the gang's progress.Theres been some pretty impressive progress theres been between Mike,Jase and yourself.

Scored a 1:250 battleship musashi for a $100.00 delivered to my door . Took a chance on it . It arrived this morning and it is undamaged ,unbuilt and complete !!!!

I've looked at that kit also, not the one you purchased there but the Musashi kit. I wasn't sure if it was just the name plate that was different between it and the Yamato or not. Sounds like it is though if you've gone ahead and picked one up.

Wow Ken, what an update on the ol beast. That is some serious progress you've made since i last seen it mate. You've really cranked up the work there and it looks PFG to me so i bet it's jaw dropping seeing it up there yourself. Them rear ports came out looking sweet dude and you are really cranking it up some now that your building up that head there also.

Thanks Phil . That head section is challenging to say the least . There are alot of angles there that can go very wonky in alot of places if one is not careful .The top skin doesn't seem to be wide enough so it will have to be recut . everything else seems to be ok . I also want to see the deck gun buckets/baskets or whatever their called.
I believe that theres a piece from a 1/250 carrier for the Devestator bridge no ones found that could come from a 1/250 kit.

Had the ol beast in drydock at Halcon , a sci fi convention in the city of Halifax . It was there as a work in Progress so people could see a scratch build in a form that not many people get to see . while there the ol girl and myself had a few special visitors !!!

Bloody hell Ken, fantastic work mate! Now thats what we are talking about, a complete or there abouts Battlestar structure. Damn it's looks mighty blood good also, it's a beautiful sight to see! Can't believe the time it's taken, not including V1, thats a thing of the past. V2 though you've really cranked out in some unbelievably quick time. Man that is very motivating to see for sure!

Thanks Phil . I had to really work double overtime on the beast to get it some what presentable for display at the con . It was all worth it , when the very lovely Erin Gray ( Wilma Dearing from Buck Rodgers ) took time out of her very buisy schedule to visit with myself and the other sci fi modelers at the event . The Cylon Centurion was also a nice touch to see standing next to the Battlestar . I have a few more pics to post of the con a little later on .

Thanks for the kind words Jase , they mean alot . It is a build that is fueled by the inspiration of other fellow builders with the same passion such as yourself .

Wow, Ken, that's looking great! All of a sudden she's come to life. Now you can appreciate just how big one of these models are.

The lines look really good to my eye, but if I can offer constructive criticism, the centre arm needs to be vertically thinner. Not width-wise, but it's overall thickness as it tapers down toward the bay. Know what I mean?Smile

But damn, she's looking good!

Does anyone know what details are used to make all the triangles in a straight line located below the sweepback details on the head section ? They are found on either side of the bridge .

As far as I know those are just .010 styrene cut to shape

Here are some progress pics . Started to detail the engine lid and engineered the fastening system . Note that the engine port plate has no visible fastening location . it is fastened from the inside . And I also skinned in the coffin section and added the bottom row of rocos .

The engine plate is almost finnished . Waiting on a few parts from custom replicas and this part will be ready to be primed in paint .

It's really cool seeing these fully scratched pieces come together such as your own. Sorta looks like Mikes but his has so much more on it already but then, he's been on it for 10+ years already. Think you've made incredible progress with it all in a very short time. Great seeing some more on it!
