RE: BBTS-Cowboy - ColinSMT - 04-23-2016

Looking great Joe, glad to see it coming along. You'll be finished in no time!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Wombat - 04-23-2016

and that's some nice plowing! The lower leg section in particular looks great with that added detail on there now.

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - JAWS - 04-24-2016

Joseph fantastic work. Love the updates.

Buddy there are quite a few images now missing from posts.
This is my fault as stated in the "Site Issues' thread...
If anywhere you could reload imaged that are now missing would greatly appreciate it.
Be assured this will not happen again.

Keep up the good work.

I've gone back thru all of my pictures and zapped the old broken attachments and replaced them with fresh uploads - perhaps there was an easier way, but the way I did seems to be working now. Wink

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 04-26-2016

Here is my rendition of the detailing that go between the leg fuel tanks.  BTW, are they called greeblies, nurnies, or widgets?
[attachment=17607]

I robbed them primarily from Monogram F-14 kits and well, the collection of de-sprued kit parts.
[attachment=17608]

[attachment=17609]

Some are certainly from armor kits, like sections of the M-2 .50 cal machine gun from the Tamiya Walker Bulldog and the M5A1Tank, and a mystery bomb-bay hinge:

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 04-27-2016

Detailing begun, port side of cabin:

[attachment=17613]

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 04-29-2016

And, progress!

Port side of freighter cabin, about done, just needs the whip antenna added:
[attachment=17614]

Starboard cabin, about 90% done - some detailing still to be added and also the whip antenna for *this* side:
[attachment=17615]

Ventral / underside, still needs the forward-mounted dish antenna in that glaringly empty space near the bow:
[attachment=17616]

Topside view - partially conjecture, no clear shots available for the back topside portion:

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Wombat - 04-30-2016

You have been getting busy. Good job!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Wombat - 04-30-2016

Even though it's a bit late, this looks to be ya part for the port side that you scratched up.

Awesome!  Thank you!

Since I just threw a coat of primer on everything... better late than never.  I am very pleased with the box I scratch'd for that part.  Holy potatoes, that's a pricey little kit: $40.00+ as a starter for the vintage issued ones.

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - LeeS - 05-03-2016

Hey Wombat!
Any chance of a complete kit scan of the bandai 1/48 sturmgeschutz ausf G?
The files here only have the 'D' and it's different :-)
Unless I'm looking in the wrong place!

L

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Wombat - 05-03-2016

A nice splash of primer to tie things all together. Looks sharp JB!

Lee, you are not missing that scan mate, it's not one that is on SSM unfortunately. I'll see what I can do though, is ya email addy still the same?

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - LeeS - 05-04-2016

Yes it is :-)

and thanks!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 05-19-2016

Most of the construction is now complete for the cargo area; while I cannot swear that my solutions are perfect matches for the filming model, I am going with what I have got right now!

And I still don't know the source kit for the original part covering the aft filming mount but the lower cap of a Monogram SRB, a part from Tamiya SdKfz 222 Leichter Panzerspahwagen, a part from a Leopold (and a Hanomag wheel hub), and some small connectors get me close to what seems to be there!

[attachment=17639]

And mounted:

[attachment=17640]

The lower cargo section done:

[attachment=17641]

The upper cargo section done:

[attachment=17642]

Today, the plan is to add detailing to the side walls of the mid-section and add the six cargo pods as well.
And then: prime the whole cargo section!

We'll see just how far I get... Cool

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Richard_2001 - 05-20-2016

Joe,

Looking very sweet there!   You have done a nice job on this one so don't worry to much about the mount cover  Wink

Richard

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 05-20-2016

Thank you!  I do appreciate compliments (like, who doesn't?) but kudos from fellow model geeks actually *means* something! Smile

Throwing primer on this was an awesome feeling...

Things sure got busy quick and the primer tied it together very nicely, good work Joe!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Wombat - 05-26-2016

Must have been a really satisfying feeling for you seeing things this far along now.. It looks damn good, Joe!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 05-26-2016

Thank you!  This has been a great build experience and very enjoyable fun.  Mostly fun... Big Grin

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Joseph C. Brown - 06-07-2016

And, I got it done and into the Wonderfest 2016 show!  Paul Francis took a nice pic of it with his Iphone and posted it on my FB page (shared with his kind permission):

[attachment=17745]

I'll get my own pics up after awhile, and in the proper area.  I could not have done this build with the gang here, and a special thanks to Lee Stringer for his invaluable comments, advice, and motivation!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - Tsophika - 06-08-2016

I was lucky to see this in person over the weekend, too. Very cool build!

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - rbeach84 - 10-06-2016

Very nice! Did you post your own pics somewhere; I'd like to see more. I've yet to get a copy of the movie to watch, but I have a feeling that this ship is probably the best part of it! ;^P

Regards, Robert

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - JAWS - 10-09-2016

Yes an excellent build.

The movie is what it is - a product of Roger Corman near his prime period as a B-movie producer.  Given some of what is currently out as 'big' films, I rather enjoy it.  Smile

RE: BBTS-Cowboy - LeeS - 10-31-2016

I just had mine on display last weekend in Vienna. Seems NO ONE in Austria has even heard of the film Big Grin

That is surprising to hear - I had thought that Corman had reasonably good European film distributor deals lined up before completing any given movie.  On the other hand, it *has* been 35+ years since the film was released... Wink
