Awesome Ken!! Them caps look great, not only the rear but the front also that you have started to detail. The rear one is looking fantasic with the chips and parts going on. A fine bit of scratch building with that sucker!!
You seem to be working all over the place with the parts, a bit like me actually but it looks to be getting there just the same. Theres just so many hours that go in detailing this animal and everthing i see where you are at, there has been plenty spent already. It's like it will never end but it has to someday right? LOL

It's coming along nicely there Ken and thanks for the update with things. It's always good seeing where you are at with it.

Great update Ken, really moving along now and it looks very nice indeed. Good that you have those damn front and rear caps built because we now how difficult they are to scratch! In a couple of those pics it looks like mine with all that white styrene, but they are sister ships after all.Big Grin

Keep at it and keep taking pics for us.

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 12-03-2013

Back from Halcon 2013 . Took 34 years to finally meet him , but it finaly happend . A true ambassador to the genre and an absolute pleasure to meet . I enjoyed every minute that I spent with Mr Richard Hatch .I wore a special Jersey that I made to wear to the con and Mr Hatch really liked it . I then took it off of my back and gave it to him .He was extremely touched and grateful , and sugggested that a picture be taken to represent the moment . Very happy fan here . He even dropped by later and spent about 20 mins to view my models and chat and he even autographed the underside of the Pegasus engine lid .!! RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - LastBattlestar - 12-03-2013

Damn Kenny, that is SO cool!Smile

Now your Battlestar is autographed it just jumped in value. Well, at least us geeks can see the cool factor in getting Richard's autograph in there.Smile Let me know next time and I'll send my lid over there....

The shirt looks great too. Are you in the screen printing business?

Mike

Thanks Mike . I am not in the screen printing buisness , but I do have access to buisnesses that make hot press or iron decals . I manage a sporting goods store , and we do alot of custom team jerseys and apparell , as part of the service aspect of the buisness .

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - Cylon-Knight - 12-03-2013

How COOL!
Great stuff Kenny, isn't Richard just an all around great guy? He really does care about the fans. I saw him in person for the first time this past May at Galacticon 3. (Photo link as to not hijack your thread: http://m1knight.prekfun.com/cylon/CK-RH_CK.jpg with my photo ) For the photo Richard and I crossed paths in a skyway between the convention center and hotel. I was on the way to the con, he was leaving... he stopped me and said we had to get a photo! He really liked my suit, quite a ego boost for me as he has seen more Centurions than probably anyone ever. How COOL.

I bet you two had a wonderful chat over your Battlestar. Did he have any insight into the original or stories about it? And now you have your amazing ship signed... *bows down*

Your jersey is a WINNER. Of course he loved it - hands down awesome! We might see him have it on at future cons. *high five*

Thank you for sharing your photos of the event!

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - Wombat - 12-03-2013

Fantastic to see everything went just perfectly there!!Cool

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 12-04-2013

Thanks CK and Phil . Yes , I agree that Richard Hatch is just an all around great Guy. Very , very genuine to his fans and works hard at keeping the battlestar galactica genre alive . He even signs his autographs with the words .. " Keep the Faith " . Learned a few tidbits about the genre that I didn't know before , while talking with Mr Hatch as well !!

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 01-12-2014

[attachment=15460][attachment=15459]Mrs Clause was definately paying close attention to my wish list . She got me everyting that I had on it !!!

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - Wombat - 01-12-2014

NICE!!! Theres some goodness to be had from those buggers..

That Mrs Clause of yours is probably worth holdin onto there....Smile

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 04-28-2014

Due to some recent inspiration , I found myself adding some detailing to the ol beast . paid some attention to the head section and eye socket .[attachment=15995][attachment=15996][attachment=15997][attachment=15998]

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - Wombat - 04-28-2014

NICE!!! Good to see a bit more work on this again, Ken. The eye looks like all it's missing is a splash of primer and a few of them chips. Theres probably more chips on this thing than parts don't ya think? Well maybe not but it seems like it when theres no end to em sight. They are so much fun as you know! LOL Like what you've done there so far though, looks good! You are well on your way with that trench area detailing also so it's all coming along nicely there. Just keep at it!

You may want to consider removing the chrome from the parts down the track before gluing em on? A good strong bleech will work on the older chrome but with the newer stuff Easy Off oven cleaner does the job. Infact that'll work on either.

It's good to see some action on one of the Battlestar happening again.Smile

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 04-28-2014

Thanks Phil. The little chips are a treat , and dissappear pretty quickly in carpet if dropped on the floor !!! I did put some liquid silver cleaner on the chrome , and it only hazed the chrome . it usually worked before . I noticed that the chrome is really thick on this particular part . I will give some oven cleaner a try .

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - LastBattlestar - 04-28-2014

Oh, sweet work Ken, really nice mate. Very neat detailing I must say and don't you lust love the bloody chips?

Hey, my next section to re-detail in my annual session is the starboard head side too! Your starboard neck detailing got me kicked off again last time.Smile

Mike

Looks fantastic mate, really nice!

The centre arms are still bothering me, they look too thick in cross section. Just some constructive criticism, I want to see this done right.Smile

Mike

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 11-12-2014

Yeah they bothered me too at first ,but they are glued on pretty heavilly and i decided to leave them as is as sort of a tell to this being my build at a quick glance . once the greeblies are on the wide flat surface won.t be so noticible

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - dbhs - 11-12-2014

Looks fantastic. The angled base with the mirror is a great way to display it.

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 11-16-2014

While at this years con I had the opportunity to meet Michelle Forbes , Who played the role of Commander Caine , the commander of the Pegasus , in the newly imagined series of Battlestar Galactica.Had my picture taken with her to document the occasion .A very nice lady.

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - darkimmitator - 01-03-2016

Thank you gents . my goal for this year , is to finnish this beast before the next con in november.

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - Wombat - 01-11-2016

Hopefully you'll meet that goal. ;-)

Looking good where things are at and it's good to see you've been able to stay on track with it. You've really done a fine job in the time since you started this monster. Anyway, no time for reading this you should be working on a little something shouldn't ya? Nice work though just for where ya at. :-)

RE: The Beast ( BATTLESTAR PEGASUS ) - ColinSMT - 01-15-2016

I agree she is looking great, well done and you should be very proud!

I'm hoping to finally begin on mine once my the new shop is renovated and open. I had planned on re-opening early February of this year but things are plodding along so it will be more like May I think. Everything is packed and stacked.

But again looks awesome and best of luck in hitting your target for completion.
