The TIE looks like a real model RE: My Star Wars Stuff - dbhs - 02-25-2011 Nice work. RE: My Star Wars Stuff - JAWS - 02-28-2011 I love this stuff. Your very good at it. Thanks for posting & look forward to seeing more. RE: My Star Wars Stuff - dbhs - 02-28-2011 Chris, When you create these models do you primarily use the studio models for reference or do you use a variety of sources? In creating the physical models there's a lot of different viewpoints on accuracy vs. interpretation and use of original kit parts vs. scratched parts. Do these topics come up with CG models? It would be interesting to hear your viewpoints on these topics. RE: My Star Wars Stuff - ChrisGFX - 03-01-2011 Thank you very much for your positive feedback. Yes, I'm always using photos of the Studio Models as reference. I think making models is all the same, physical or CG. At the end something was build. The main problem with making SS models as physical models is to have all meassurements and all parts used by the original builder. But we CGI guys have the same problem. Not the dimensions at all. IN CG size doesn't matter but to have the right dimensions is very important. Its all alot of guessing and trying to get in touch with different camera angles. I'm trying to remodel the parts used for the original model to get most accuray but a lot of CG artists are not that patient and they are doing "look alikes" only. The bad thing to be accurate is that sometimes you don't have enough references for some parts. So you start guessing again. I have a lot of problems with some regions of the 5ft Falcon. I have posted a "cry for help" in this forum: http://www.studioscalemodelers.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1012 The recreations of most parts are not 100% accureat but I'm on a level of about 90% - 95%. The rest is "look alike" ![]() I hope you and this forum can help me to find more ref material so I can make HigtEnd 3D models with a high accuration level. (and not only for my actual MF project) Thank you very much Chris |
