Jase, I just measured a couple of my Legg's Eggs. They are just over 2 and 3/4 of an inch at the widest part. Almost exactly 70mm. This is the outside dimension. Inside dimension goes from 2 15/16 to 2 5/8 inch because of the lip on the two parts. Hope that last bit wasn't confusing, I second the offer as well, if you can't get em on Evilbay. Yea, I'm glad I saved all the ones I have. I totally forgot about Easter. Guess the egg's will tend to "Pop" out this time of year, The first time I searched for them on evilbay, I only found one listing with an egg container. Then I remembered how illiterate most internet typist can be, and took the apostrophe out of the Legg's word. Then I got several more, LOL. Go figure.

There are actually two different types, at least in the ones I have. There's a silver egg that looks to be thin acrylic with chrome plating. They are quite brittle, in fact quite a few of mine are broken, The other type is more like polypropylene or polystyrene. Much more flexible. They have all survived from the late 70s and early 80's when I started hoarding them. I think you could cast either one, but the acrylic ones would probably crack. I really would love to see some thin aluminum copies. They would take the heat of lights and would be darn near indestructible. You could make the aluminum bells a little thicker too. As long as the lip on the edge was the same, you wouldn't notice the increased thickness. Maybe one of our members skilled with a metal lathe, might want to give it a go. I don't have a lathe myself. The best bet would be a CNC machine.
The eggs that i have are white and light blue and are styrene and incredibly fragile, you could cast them up, wouldnt take much resin, and be more dense and a bit heavier.
i need to get a few more sets myself.

Now that I think of it, metal spinning might be a better process. You could always cut the lips after spinning the eggs. I've had good luck with the blue eggs, my chromed ones will crack if you look at them hard, I guess casting them will be the way to do it. If we use a real hard resin, that can take a little heat. The Cylon tanker uses the egg's, but the engines aren't lit so you could use original egg's if you wanted. The BG Shuttle, and the Star Destroyer would need something heat resistant. I'm sure someone will figure it out. Cheers,
