Tauron freightways - Apophis - 04-03-2011 Howdy Folks! This is a scratchbuild of a ragtag ship from BSG that never to my knowlage, had any screen time but the CG drawing looked really cool and it inspired me to attempt a buildup of it. In this thread about quarter the way down you see some renders that TITON did for Zoic, which i want to thank! http://resinilluminati.com/showthread.php?t=774 Now for a bit of discription, as titon said he borrowed parts from other ragtag ships and cobbled them together to make this one, and i noticed the saturn V parts and just happened to have said part and went to Staples to get a larger print out and they enlarged it 600% to match the sat v part. So, all of my measurements are based off of this large print out of the ship. The ship is 40" long it will have 6 containers each are 8"x4"x4", it has a 1/2" copper tubing frame that the containers will attach to. Also, before it is asked, my version will be similar not exact to the CG ship. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
RE: Tauron freightways - JAWS - 04-12-2011 Looks good Gerry. Where you at? Gone quiet again RE: Tauron freightways - Apophis - 04-12-2011 im still here, just getting ready for summer and vacation, will post more pics this weekend. RE: Tauron freightways - dbhs - 04-13-2011 Is the long white box in the middle made of stryene? Did you use epoxy to glue it in place or something else? I don't see a "T" where the pipes are crossed. Did you braze or weld them directly together? I'm always curious about armature techniques. Great work so far. I'm thinking that some BSG style product logos on the containers would be cool. I didn't convince Phil to do a "Caprican Cigars" logo on his movers but maybe you'll go for it !!!! Yeah, the long box is styrene,060, and it is really welded hence the large amount of filler, the welder(plastic) went to town on it, i guess because it was pure styrene? The box is bolted to the pvc pipe through two stand offs. I didnt use a "tee" because i wanted the joint to be smooth, but the cross bars are notched like a roll cage then i sweated the ends together and then filed and sanded the joints and used apoxie sculpt on it and sanded some more to smooth it all out, once its painted you shouldnt see where its joined. if you ever wondered where the colonials got all of that stuff for new caprica, it came from these enormous container ships like this one, LOL. i think that some logos would be cool too! I`ll have to get Talon to make some for me as he did the colonial salvage decals for me for that ship. RE: Tauron freightways - dbhs - 04-13-2011 Here's the really crappy mock up I did for Phil. You get the idea. |
