Scrapped - Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 11-15-2009

Ive put this for one reason. Its 0.1% incomplete. I need to add some piping to the exterior of the wings & she's done. I bought this as a kit Master. The moulds are still in transit with the one piece thats missing, the right hand tube cap. I want to also add the mounting sockets on the rear & centre belly for studio accuracy. Eagle1 did a fantastic job on his TB & added some personal touches which paid off, like his cockpit. So jsut for everyone to look over while I add the last couple of pieces in the next few days & waite for the moulds to arrive, with some other goodies as well Wink

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Wombat - 11-15-2009

Nice, you'll be cranking these out pretty soon!
A good first kit to be producing mate!!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - 3d-builder - 11-16-2009

You dog another nice score!!!!Smile

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - scratchy - 11-17-2009

Awesome, I'm really taking an interest whenever I see someone build a SS Tie Bomber. I like watching the development of it, it'll help me when I build mine. Great Job jasonwright.1972!!!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - DLT9 - 11-17-2009

hi jase with a kit master you do mean youre going to make molds of of it and supply kits right?

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 11-17-2009

That is correct. Unfortunately I have a little more to complete on this project than anticipated. I had thought I would already have had at least 5 or more cast & ready.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 11-18-2009

Well ive recieved some of what I was waiting for, though not all that was expected. This kit was never finished being 'Mastered' let alone cast up & ready for shipping. I will have to finish it, which isn't really a problem. I have all the pieces though not completely ready. I guess it could be worse but its really quite sad. All the pieces are correct to match the Studio Prop Model theyve just gotto be finished like the right hand side tube cap.....

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - DLT9 - 11-24-2009

looks great man!!!
any idea of the kit release???

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - scratchy - 01-18-2010

Do I see some Aircraft hanger doors from the POW in your images, are they needed for the SS TIE Bomber?

Maybe on the front of the ordinance tube,.... where the notches are???

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 01-18-2010

Scratchy you mean this piece? I mentioned this in your thread cause Im gonna finish it & scratch it off my SS want list. I had hoped to offer this as my first kit but it all went sideways... Just gonna build her now. I need the space.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - scratchy - 01-18-2010

Nope, that's the stabilizer pad from the Tamiya 88 German flak. The piece I'm talking about is just over to the right. There's two of them, grey, glued to a piece of styrene. Little square pieces with a notch on one side.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - DLT9 - 01-19-2010

hey jase when are you kitting this puppy???

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 01-19-2010

Bjorn Im not going to now. Randy's associate brought out a kit & its a good one. Ones enough...
Scratchy do you want castings?

I think you should reconsider making this into a kit,Jase. There's still a demand for this, and it'd be wise to cast a couple of these,so you can release them later when you have the time after finishing all the other projects at hand.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 01-19-2010

Thanks I'll think about it. But I really want the sucker built up. I love these baby's!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - scratchy - 01-19-2010

I hadn't realized that those doors where part of the TIE Bomber, until I took a close look at the front of the ordinance tube along the outside perimeter. They're in the eight cut notches.

Ya know, when I was casting parts for my Scratch ISD, I made a mold of this cause I thought it would be a good little detail piece, just my luck HA!

Jase, I sent you a PM and a pic

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 01-19-2010

Sorry. Stuka parts... I got two cast up ready for shipping Wink

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-27-2012

Daves build reminded me of the Tie Bomber kit master I bought a while back.
An excersize I would rather forget but none the less I had a 'nearly' complete parts set &partial build just sitting in a box.
I thought screw it.
I may as well build this model.
Im not going to kit it, it already got done.
So I went throgh & dug the little bugger up.
Had a survey of the parts & sourced what was missing from my kits.
Noticed all I really needed was some styrene strip to detail the outer wings & some primer.
So off me & the kids went to the local model/toy shop in the rain & picked up some supplies.
40kms away....

Im going to bog up the outer wing joins & then detail with the styrene strip as per the studio model.
I also need to make a mount point on the centre piece with a bolt.
This is my sons first SS build as he's the one pushing to do it.
Should be fun.
I think the inner wing has a scribe line running around the outer edge of the wind also.

I need more reference as I don't seem to have much on this model.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - daverep - 06-27-2012

Jase...that's NICE!!! Glad a noob like me could inspire!! LOL!

Very cool to see that in so many pieces. I wish the kit I got was a little more "incomplete" so it had more to do. Plus there are a few parts that were totally not correct like the stuka parts. I think I got thrusters off of the Saturn V kit. Will have to confirm that once I get that kit in the next couple of days (for the MF build). But I'm pretty sure they're thrusters off of a command module kit.

I have a few more ref pics that I gathered to try and get mine a bit more accurate. If you want, I'll email them to you.

Good luck with this kit...I'm TOTALLY jealous! Tongue

--Dave

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-27-2012

Thanks Dave.
This is all kit parts mate & 2 pieces of pipe.
The castings are from these parts.
She'll be 100% scratched.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-27-2012

My sons bein pushy so we slapped some filler on the edges to fill the seams.
We'll sand that back & get them ready for the styrene strip detail.
Big Grin

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-29-2012

Just a little bit done.
The kids are on me to build this model.
Ive pretty much sanded the bog back & will give it a quick coat of primer to see the finer imperfections before marking out the styrene detail.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-29-2012

Getting there.
Finding details I need to add like scribing....

A little more sanding on the wing & will add the rest of the details & styrene.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Apophis - 07-02-2012

i was going to build one of them and had most of the parts, but i had to sell what i had, and before that i ripped off from that dude that everyone hates, i paid him $350.00 and never got the old backlot studios kit.
Some day i will build one just for myself lol!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - daverep - 07-02-2012

Nice job, Jase! MUCH better looking wings than what I started with! Heh, heh...what is the width of your styrene. I officially stared collecting parts for this myself...just bought a TIE Advance off of Amazon yesterday.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-02-2012

Jerry this was the master for the supposed kit he was going to sell(he who shan't be named...)
It wasn't even completed!

I too bought a kit presale.....
I wassupposed to still get a kit with the patern I bought from him when it all started going sour...

Anyway I will have a relatively nice studio scale bomber once I get through the details & some frakn scribing.
The wings look much cleaner so now have to do the insides.....
See these builds just escelate from a nice relaxing build to anal kit bashin fest.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-02-2012

Bogged up the inner wing joins awaiting curing.
Still have the bomb pod canopy to drill & shape which I am not looking forward to.
Drilled the Saturn parts for the Red LED's.
Needs more scribing on the cockpit housing.
Rolleyes

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Apophis - 07-02-2012

Thank the Lord, he hasnt resurfaced yet! With your talent you should have it done in no time!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - daverep - 07-02-2012

Nice scribing! Maybe one day I'll be that good! You're my hero!!

Nice casts too...completely and utterly jealous! Big Grin

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-03-2012

Thanks Dave.
The only things casted on this build are the wing mounts Dave.
Ive replaced everything else that was a casting except for the Saturn V end caps.
I do already have molds of most parts if needed but really want this to be a just scratch & bash.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-03-2012

The first week of holidays rained & have had to catch up on house duties.

I really want to get his done without rushing but have some orders to finish aswell so am slotting a little of this in with the kids as I can.

Inner wings are a little cleaner.
Will still sand back a touch to smooth out a ripple or 2.

Cut the parts for the back plate but Im not 100% sure thi is what was used?
If I recall they drawn off of what eagle1 used on his build but may not be accurate?

Added a few more kit parts to the wings that were missing.
Is getting there I guess.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-03-2012

Details details.
Its all about the details.

Wing mounts in correct positions Rolleyes

Getting closer to having to do the bomber dome....

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Tsophika - 07-04-2012

Looking nice! It's probably not too late to cut out the notches in the wings if you were so inclined. I could send you the measurements I did for mine.

I need to get back at this someday. I have all the kit parts sitting in a box. Wink

Craig

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-04-2012

Hey man yeah thats how its supposed to look!
Nice.
You should post your build mate.
I wanna see it.
Is that outer wing line scribed or pencil?
I noticed on this picture I found its a flat piece & was almost thinking that it was layered.
Have you got any reference you can share?

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Tsophika - 07-04-2012

I'm pretty positive it's scribed. I think you can see it best in the Chronicles photos. Yeah, I'll get back to it someday and take some more pics.

Craig

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - LeeS - 07-13-2012

New guys here I know, but just to let you know I'm ready to buy a kit of this when it's done :-)

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-14-2012

Sorry Lees the kit was scrapped as it was already put out by another person.
I have molds of most parts & heaps of spare cast parts I was just going to put up for a few bucks.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - LeeS - 07-15-2012

Ohhh ok, well colour me interested all the same, if you want to sell off some bits!

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 07-15-2012

Send me an email LeeS.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 05-28-2014

Wow old thread... Lol!!!!!!!
Man I forgot this was originally a kit master.

May have to speak to Joe.

So awaiting some parts from Joe to finish this build.
Might see what Joe says about finishing a pattern.

I'm using Joe's wings as I forgot to cut the notches for the detail parts to sit in....
The bomb dome as well.

If not.
Finish this model I will.

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-01-2014

So I was thinking about this old project that brought back many unpleasant memories & thought I could just do the sections Joe has not covered. Don't want to intrude on his little offerings for this subject. So I already have moulds for 90% of the parts & could just cast the tubes, wings & last parts that weren't moulded. If any.
????

RE: Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-03-2014

As feared & expected the existing wing extensions didn't come off as smoothly as I hoped....
Just going to build this little bugger.
I have enough on my plate with kits.
As much as I hate to not kit it to share the love....Angel

RE: scrapped - Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-03-2014

Updated the heading.

RE: Scrapped - Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - Tsophika - 06-03-2014

Hey, that is similar in state to mine! Maybe we can kick off a group build one of these days? That might just be the motivation I need to glue all these parts together.

RE: Scrapped - Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-03-2014

Well just jump on this or should I start a new thread.
All builds are group builds one way or the other.Wink

Got the first wing off.
This job is just reading I'm going get stung.
Am soon careful to keep the process safe.
Probably why I haven't screwed it up yet Big Grin

Wow I actually got them off without hurting myself.
Was close though.

RE: Scrapped - Studio Scale Tie Bomber Kit Master - JAWS - 06-03-2014

Nice fit Joe Cool
Now that sort of thing gets me excited.
These fantastic little projects that make things easier.
Not mention accurate.
