colonial movers - darkimmitator - 01-04-2012 I am about to order the steel pipe for my CM SS build. Can anyone tell me what length the 3/4 steel pipe needs to be for use as an armature for the colonial movers ss build . Also , is the mounting point for the stand located exactly in the center of the length of pipe being used ? Thanks in advance ...............Ken RE: colonial movers - dbhs - 01-04-2012 Hey Kenny, Here's the drawing I used when ordering the armature I had made for me. Here's my disclaimer !!!! I made very detailed measurement from the kit parts and my own mounting system inside to get the final length of the pipe. It's intentionally short to allow for this internal framing on the ends. The resin kit parts I have are not going to be the same as you'll have if building it from scratch with original parts. I know for a fact that the trailers are slightly smaller than the original kit trailers just due to the molding/casting shrinkage factor and they play a significant role in the overall length of the model. If you have a hacksaw or some sort of metal cutter I'd suggest getting the nuts welded on with a little extra length on each end then trimming it down to the exact length after you have that figured out for your build. Good luck and keep us posted. -Doug RE: colonial movers - darkimmitator - 01-04-2012 Thanks for the info Doug . Greatly appreciated sir . Will definately keep everyone posted.
