"Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 01-20-2012 Just thought I'd show something I've been working on and off for the past year or so. Please let me know what you think, thanks! Sorry for all the pics! RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - JAWS - 01-20-2012 Well i like what im seeing but I have no idea what it is? Obviously a droid but from what? Clean work Joe RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 01-20-2012 From the following video game....http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki Joe RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - JAWS - 01-20-2012 Wow ok. I have that game but haven't played it yet. RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 01-21-2012 I'll be honest....it's a fun game but i was not really into the "RPG" aspect of it. The tech, on the other hand, is outta this world! ![]() Joe RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - Vos - 04-11-2012 Very nice. I love the way you've built the wheel...clever. RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 04-12-2012 Thanks, Vos! I love the way you built that shuttle! ![]() Joe RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 12-05-2012 Here's a quick update. It's been a slow journey but one that continues. The three part mold I am doing is new to me but I know it'll work in the end. Hope you like.... Joe
RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - JAWS - 12-10-2012 Joe as Ive been playing this game now I appreciate what youve built all the more. Great stuff. RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 12-10-2012 Thanks Jase!!!!! Here is another update. I just demolded the main body. All looks good! I also just finished pouring the second half of the wheel. BTW, the wheel, arms, and wheel struts will be reinforced with rods. Joe
RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - JAWS - 12-10-2012 Nice molding Joe. I want when their ready. Its for my brother. RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 12-11-2012 Absolutely, Jase, I'll add ya to my list. In the meantime, I got the wheel mold all done. It came out really clean except for a few tiny bits of flash! As soon as I am done with all the small part molds, I will start the casting process with the wheel. I'm going "ground up" approach. Whew...can't wait! Joe
RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - JAWS - 12-11-2012 Joe do you degass your rubber & pressurise in a pressure pot? The molds look great. I too use pen lids for locking points. They work real sweet ay. RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 12-11-2012 Jase, nope, no fancy pots yet....one day, though. I'm using Smooth-On's Mold Max 30. It really does de-gas itself. I tap the cup I mix it in before then pour from at least a foot above to elimitate more bubbles. Then I tap the box and use my air compressor to pop any other bubbles that surface. Mold Max 30 is really good stuff, imo. I even re-cycled rubber from the mistakes I made on the first part of the body. It blends in so smooth...and I inserted big chunks, too. I did run into a few bubbles on the top head part...mainly around the a few areas of condensed small detail, so the casts won't be 100%, but I will fix the casts as they come off the mold. No serious problems as of yet which makes me happy! The "pen tops" are actually wire caps for home electrical. I usually use tire air caps. LOL! But yeah, they all work great! Joe RE: "Potty-Mouth" Droid - joewhite - 12-16-2012 Sorry for the crappy photos...the lighting in my house and my camera suck! I got an itch to test out the resin and decided to pour a wheel. I mixed too much but luckily all the molds are pretty much done (just need the arm) so the eye mold was nearby. I don't know if you can tell but my pour was a success!!!!! The wheel is hollow and solid...all by hand! I even inserted the proper rod so that it can free spin when assembled to the struts. The flash is super thin and all was taken off by hand. Light sanding is all that's needed there! The eye piece had a bunch of bubbles on the underside. Fortunately, though, all the bubbles gathered at the center where it will be drilled out anyway for lighting! The tire had some tiny bubbles but honestly, it's worthy enough for the first kit! I'm so happy. I will play with my camera for some better shots! Joe ![]()
