1/24 AT-AT Hoth Diorama - jedimaster - 04-15-2012

Ok so figured It was about time I shared a build around here. Been gettin so much out of this place so time to start putting a bit in. I've got quite a few kits on the go and need to finish up a chunk of them this year as my wife is now expecting our 3rd child. So hopefully this will motivate me to make some progress pretty quickly on this one. Also there are some fantastic studio scale kits coming out this year. Some really big ones too so I need to clear the workshop asap for some of the bigger kits. This year is going to to be expensive for me I can feel it.
Also will be releasing the Turbo Laser kit in the comming months so that is going to take up a chunk of my time, but we are confident everyone will be very happy with it. Will start a new thread on that soon.

So the BIG AT-AT...... I was lucky enough to be one of the fortunate few who actually got one of these kits. I honestly think it is my favorite kit to date and I have a few.

The diorama as some of you already know from the RPF , will be six feet long and 2 1/2 ft wide. It will have 3 speeders, 1 of which will be crashed and a snow base. Also I have an ILM Hoth background to be printed on a large format printer and a control panel with audio files also from ILM. So it's kinda interactive from that point of view. I need this finished for a show in sept so here goes.

I found the MPC Speeders were perfect for the dio but they needed a little work to make them a little more accurate. Firstly I opened up the canopy and got rid of the raised panels. The Mpc pilots were crap so they had to go. Mike gave me permission to cast up his 1/24 x wing pilot as they were a perfect match. This is how the MPC should have been done to begin with.[Image: 9462059e.jpg][/img]

Mate was watching this over at the RPF and it sort of dropped of the radar so I hope you’re a man of your word and do finish this sooner than later as it is going to be epic.

Thanks mate, I'm still waiting on a few pieces from Mike. That's why it's been on hold. The bits will be on there way this week so I figured it's time to kick this off again. I like to have everything layed out in front of me before I start..... Kinda like having a detolf and finding out the fastners are missing. Your parts are ready also, I need your addy.

This sounds like it will be an incredible looking display.

Jaw dropping stuff really by the sounds of all things!

Good luck and cheers for posting the progress over here.

What happened to this thread? I'd love to see this come to a finish. I'm sure that we all would. Surely it should be done by now.
