Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - JAWS - 06-04-2012 Well its been a while since Ive laid my hands anything build wise. In the process Of figuring out how the landing gear is assembled on the SS LG Viper thought I best actually assemble one. I gathered some test parts from scraps not to be sent out to build one up as a base model. The model will be painted flat black & used as a display for sales at a show or convention in the future maybe. First thing I noticed was the landing gear tubs took up 1/4 of the rockets port. This meant a good section would need to be removed from the thruster base. I feared it would open up the bottom of the thruster but it did not. The reference I used was what Mike told me to use. The old 'Battlestar Galactica Blue Prints' plans. These were drawn off a studio model to build the 1/1 filming set so are drwan from actual kit parts. Mike has tried to replicate as best he can the actual kit parts used on the models, which I must say he did a fine job of considering the reference available. Even now we are discovering new things about the LG Vipers that were used for the filming. I have posted some pics of Mikes finished build in the sales thread but will probably add them to the complete studio model area also. RE: Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - Wombat - 06-04-2012 Cool!!! This is really one sweet looking bird in this configuration and already we can see that from what you have posted. Great ta see ya getting something done for yourself for a change. Theres more to it than just all of us afterall. Keep the progress shots coming my friend! RE: Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - Apophis - 06-19-2012 i kinda like the landing gear option! RE: Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - JAWS - 06-19-2012 I think when you re-watch the episodes the LKanding Gear Vipers are seen it definately becomes a realistic option not taken previously by alot. Wombat already came up with some stuff overseen or ignored by 'everyone' else which will prove to be an eye opener for sure. Im going to use his idea but not until he's done what he will do. The Pappas reference is the best for these studio accurate builds. The parts in the kit take a little love to get right. Ive already thought of ways to accurise them just a tad more & make casting easier aswell. Just a heads up. RE: Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - JAWS - 07-14-2012 Played a little more with this. Want to get it built up so you guys know how it goes together. Please remember this is built from scrap & is not going to be a clean build. Good excuse ayc
RE: Landing Gear Down SS TOS Viper - Wombat - 07-15-2012 In my book they shouldn't look clean and even being what you class as a scrap casting looks bloody good to me mate. This version is so cool! Keep on it! |
