Just Finished the CC X-Wing - Red III - 09-10-2012
Thought I'd post a few shots of my latest project. I got this kit from Captain Cardboard almost a year ago and just now got around to finishing it. LED's in the cockpit and engines. I did have a problem with that canopy, it just didn't fit right. I made up the base with Death Star tiles but I think it came out to clunky. I'll most likely make a new base out of black acrylic and wood and use the tiles somewhere else. May The force Be With You.

It looks great.
That cockpit looks awsome with the pilot also painted very well.

Darn nice job for a first time resin kit !! Also not an easy kit build to be doing for the first time , especially with lighting !!!

Thanks guys, I really like the chalenge this type of kit offers. I have my eye on that Viper kit. I'll be starting on my 23 inch Eagle I got from Replicas Unlimited soon, I'll post pictures of the progress. Thanks again.

Im also doing my first build and it’s a CC as well. I had trouble with the canopy and I ended up filing a bit out of the model to make it fit. You have done a great job can we get a few more pics please.

I'll take a few more pictures tonight and post. Here is one shot taken in front of my "Rocket Garden" before I installed the cannons and put the glazing on the canopy. I too had to carve away some of the fuselage to get the canopy frame to fit, it seemed a bit too small or something. Of course, now that's the only thing I see when I look at it...

Thanks, I got the Death Star tiles from Starship Modeler, a great site. Most of the weathering I did with different color pastels and then sealed with a flat clear finish. Also, rather than complete the entire model and then paint It, I did it in assemblies: Fuselage, wings, and guns then painted and weathered them before final assembly. It made painting much easier when it came to masking and weathering. Talk to you soon.
