Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-08-2012 More specifically referred to in 'Return of the Fighting 69th' as the SEYMOUR CLASS CARGO SLED. The same ship was also featured prominantly in the episode 'Plot to Kill a City' where it was the ship belonging to notorious gun-for-hire Raphael Argus. I started this build back in 2007, worked on it more in 2009/2010 and then stalled again until this year. I'm hoping to see it to completion soon. Below are a few pics of the build along the way. The main body is built from 1/8" Sintra Expanded PVC sheet. In case it isn't obvious, large portions of a Monogram Cylon Raider are incorporated into the design. The greeblie count on this one is relatively low, but has still been a little challenging. I've ID'd about 80% of the parts so far. I've been trolling for help on the part IDs over in this thread: http://www.studioscalemodelers.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1236&pid=16173#pid16173 ![]() ![]()

RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-09-2012 Still stumped on these parts (any help is greatly appreciated!):
RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-09-2012 Thanks to somebody over at the RPF, it looks like several of the parts above come from the 1/35 BM-13 Katyusha (Katiusza) (same kit released by Revell, Italeri, and Testors) Anyone got one to see? (Or to part out?) M RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - steve36uk - 11-09-2012 Very nice! Wonder whether many of the donor kits also apply to the Scorpion-certainly got the cobra engine in there. RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-09-2012 I know the M60A2 does (many of the same parts as the M60A1), and of course the Cobra. I'm hoping I end up with a lot of the same kits, because the Scorpion is the one I'd like to do next. I'll put up a kit list as I go along here- maybe you could let me know if I have any Scorpion kits? RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Tsophika - 11-09-2012 Mark, I scanned the Katiusza. It's up here.
RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-09-2012 Oops- I meant 'to sell', not 'to see'! I'd already gone over your scans here! There are actually multiple parts from that kit for the Sled! (unlike most of the other parts from the sled that seem to be one per kit!) Thanks! Mark RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-09-2012 Now that I have an ID on some of these parts, here is a clarification on what I'm missing underneath those:
RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - dbhs - 11-10-2012 Are those the engine vanes from the revell cylon raider in that picture up above? This is a great ship design. There was another one of these done a while back that was posted on Eagle Transporter. I believe it was studio scale but not accurate as far as kit parts. I think the builder was just going for the general look at studio scale. RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-10-2012 Yes those are from the original (and first repop) Mongram Cylon Raider. Ironically, both those parts and the display stand part that are also used on the sled aren't in the latest improved reissue of the Raider, so I had to go find the old kits! M RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Wombat - 11-10-2012 Glad to see you are finding more pieces for this. Your build looks really sharp there!! RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-10-2012 Thanks Wombat- I've got enough ID's now to be really close, but those last few are driving me crazy! M RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Wombat - 11-10-2012 I know where ya coming from there.. The more that we find for our builds makes the remaining few even more frustrating. The part on the very bottom right side opposite the Morser part looks very close to a Leopold part but it's not correct. Wonder if it is from something similar? What other larger gun kits were made? RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Mark B. - 11-10-2012 Yes, I saw the same thing. Even pulled that part out of one of my Leopold kits- I was sure that was it until I put it next to the picture. The parts hunting becomes a sickness after a while- its hard to stop. M RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Wombat - 11-10-2012 It's a disease many of us have with this hobby so don't feel bad there!! When you first showed the picture i was certain that was that Leopold part and was surprised to see you still looking for it in your latest pics. Did same thing and compared only to see like you it wasn't the part. Damn close but no cigar as they say.. Least the parts you are still hunting for will not hold you up laying down the bulk of it. Will look pretty good with some greeblie action on it. Here is the beginning of the greeblie application!: ![]() ![]() ![]() And I had to rebuild the cockpit (again!) ![]() Mark RE: Buck Rogers Bomber 'sled' - Wombat - 11-12-2012 The fun has begun!!
