Thunderbirds Zombite - LeeS - 03-05-2013

Quote:Well here goes, I've seen several of these started, still haven't seen anyone finish one :-)

The aircraft build is as simple as it gets. Lindburg 1/48th F-104 with an engine from an Aurora B-58 and a 3" tube.

This is what I have currently for the base. Looking very close at the screen snaps, I think I have these pieces just about right. There's other details still needed.

Does anyone have the original issues? I'd love to get a scan of the decals.

Very Kool lee.

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - Wombat - 03-05-2013

Are you doing just the one or a diorama?

These and there base were hidden inside a pyramid or something ancient from memory?

Sure you'll do an outstanding job!

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LeeS - 03-15-2013

Just doing one, doing three would be easy if I had another B-58 engine. But the killer is the SRN1 piece needed for the base!

Into paint now. The red is a little dark I think, very tough to know from the episode.

Currently doing up the art for decals as I don't have the original issue, they just used the F-104 decals.
Might be on hold for a couple of weeks to get them to be printed.

WOW!! Lee this is cool! Looks like you are definitely nailing it!! They were so dang creative with their kitbashing, and coming up with something that still looked realistic and flyable. No doubt you are capturing all the details of the base and the plane on this one. Looking forward to seeing this one go over the finish line!! Nice.

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - dbhs - 04-10-2013

Looks great. Nice to see something different here. I see 3 different paint schemes in the reference photos. Which one are you doing?

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - kbilly - 04-10-2013

Looks very cool. Definitely thunderbirds!

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LeeS - 04-14-2013

I'm making the green version, not that there's much between them :-)
Just waiting on the decals right now, else I'd be finished.

Lovely job Lee :-)

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LeeS - 12-07-2013

Finally finished up the Zombite yesterday :-)
It's a fairly basic built, but like most, more complex than it seems.

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LastBattlestar - 12-10-2013

One thing, how do they land those planes?Big Grin Then again, they were real nutjobs and maybe each mission was a suicide flight?

Great build Lee, I like it a lot!

Mike

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LeeS - 12-10-2013

They land via a huge hand that places them back on the launching ramp! :-)

RE: Thunderbirds Zombite - LastBattlestar - 12-10-2013

Or some huge wires that just happen to be attached to them for the whole mission.Smile
