Completed Narcissus - Red III - 05-13-2013
My latest project is my version of the Narcissus from Alien. I received this kit for Christmas last year. Allegedly it was cast from the miniature used in Aliens but it was warped in a lot of places and lacked a lot of detail. I figured I have nothing to loose so I did my own thing to it. The version used in the first Alien movie had a lot more detail so I simply found some good reference photos and copied it with whatever bits and pieces I could find. Not true to the original but to the casual observer it's close enough. I made my own cockpit and ground off a lot of the boiler plating and replaced it with styrene I also recreated the nose section out of styrene sheet since the part that came with the kit didn't even come close. All the greebly stuff came from my parts box. I have fiber optics in the cockpit and LED's in the engines but I'm still working on the power system. When I get them working I'll update the post. A lot of work but it makes a nice display piece.

That looks awesome. The scratch built work blends in perfectly. I wouldn't have known if you didn't mention it. Weathering is great too.

Here are a few more shots of the underside and back. Most of the underside is a hatch to get to the interior.
