I didn't like the way the tube looked, it was off by a smidge, so dremeled it and added the brass tube. it looks much cleaner and strait.

then I mirrored the pylons and nacelles together for a better fit.

Looks GOOD!
Say, what is the overall size of a Studio Scale K-7 ship?

RE: tos klingon k-7 - gluejunky - 10-28-2013

thank you Smile

it measures out to 28" long. this is from atomic city - http://atomiccity.yuku.com/forums/12/TOS-KLINGON-D-7-BATTLECRUISER#.Um4KMb3n9IA

RE: tos klingon k-7 - JAWS - 10-29-2013

Nice.
Not a massive Trek fan but I do love their models.

How well did the two halves of your hull go together? Mine seem to have shrunk differently and I can't line both the front and the back up at the same time. Scratching my head as to how to make it work.

mine lined up near perfect. have you asked captcboard about it ?? i don't know if he would do anything but ya never know.

i have the same issue with a cylon raider, the lower half is 1/4" smaller then the top....not sure how to fix it other than chopping it up, adding material and gluing it back together lol .... i would rather not !!

RE: tos klingon k-7 - gluejunky - 01-17-2014

found some time to work on this, I was hoping to be much further by now, but just have not had the time Sad

had to do some fixing here on the castings, the back piece was bigger then the cast with the comb , the best I could come up with was to add filler and blend the two together.

once that was done, I mirrored the comb body to the hull. I sprayed window cleaner to the body then smoothed the aluminum foil to the body so there were no wrinkles to deal with. traced out were the comb should be, added some evercoat to the edge of the comb and gave a good press, the result was a perfect mating Smile

the engines were cleaned up and added. a little primer and paint then it will be glued in place.

Very nice!
Great update, thanks for sharing the pics Smile

RE: tos klingon D-7 - gluejunky - 02-23-2014

I wasn't going to do it, but I couldn't take it any longer, it was driving me crazy, these things being off kilter

so I made a quick mold and made a couple casts. to get the contour I placed the correct size brass tube on the mold so I wouldn't have to sand it to fit. all I need to do is grind of the old ones and glue the new ones in place.
