Colored Lighting Gels - dbhs - 12-01-2009 I posted these photos in my Colonial One online build diary over at RI but this section reminded me about it. These colored gels are thin transparent plastic sheets in a variety of colors. You can get sample packs for free (pay for shipping) with hundreds of colors. The samples are small - about 1-1/2" x 3" but a good size for modelling. Just cut to size and put them where needed to color your lights. I used them behind the small slits in the front end of the Colonial One and at the little blue light at the top. On the SS Raider I used a yellow-amber color between the LEDs and the fiber optic to make the front lights. A great way to change your lighting from standard LED options into any color you want. You can even layer multiple gels to make custom colors. Pretty cool stuff and you can't beat the price. I mean you only had red, yellow, green and blue ..now though, you can't seem to find them anymore.. they really cheap ..79 cents or something like that. RE: Colored Lighting Gels - 427 Cobra - 12-03-2009 Thank you for that link! I don't have a local dealer where I live, but they're sending me a book anyway.
RE: Colored Lighting Gels - 427 Cobra - 12-28-2009 I got the lighting gels now,but these are too small to use for anything other than a 12" inch X-wing model. I'll just use these to diffuse the colour of my camera. It's been really sensitive to sunlight lately. The windows of my house are triple pane glass, and they have argon gas in them along with a tint that makes the light coming through appear blue when the windows are covered with lace curtains. The window in my workroom also has a plant sitting in front of it. This makes the light more harsh than it has to be. When summer comes, this plant will go back outside. Then,I can take pictures without the lighting alterations that I'm experiencing right now. |
