Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 04-05-2014 Thanks to the pics posted online by Steve and Neil (who built the original) a thread was started on the RPF by Tobot to build a replica. He's ended up drop out, but I've dived in head first :-) I'm not building the whole thing, but most! Here's the target: ![]() Started with a baseboard using some parts to scale from ![]() Then laser cut some panels and detailed them (still parts missing) ![]() Next to the name plate (still parts missing) ![]() I'm not expecting to id everything as all sorts of junk and non kits were used, but I'm already closer than I expected. RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 04-05-2014 There are some parts I'm looking for help with: ![]() RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 04-06-2014 Parts A, E, and J have been spotted :-) RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LastBattlestar - 04-07-2014 Bigature ![]() Cool project Lee, but what the hell are you going to do with it? Would be a nice backdrop for model shots! Mike RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 04-07-2014 I've no idea and I'm currently out of wall space :-) RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - peza - 04-09-2014 eh up dude this looks mint mym8..love the series smmeeeegggg hhhheeeeddddd!!! RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 05-07-2014 Finished the first section: ![]() ![]() Only two pieces I couldn't figure out, but I need to finish it for a display later this month. On to paint it RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - JAWS - 05-08-2014 Beautiful Lee. Looking really sweet. RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - Wombat - 05-08-2014 This really is something a lil different to the norm but pretty cool just the same. Looks very sharp as we've come to expect from you there. Great job finding nearly everything used. What was the last part you couldn't find? RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - dbhs - 05-08-2014 This is amazing work. How big is the final panel going to be? It's going to be very striking in the finished red color. RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 05-10-2014 My piece will be about 1.2m x 0.7m, the original is about 1.6m x 1m. I'm basically trimming a section of the side and top. I could always add t back on later if I feel the need :-) RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 05-10-2014 On the wanted parts map I've not found B & H needed for this panel. They weren't what I call critical and I needed to get this bit done. Once painted they look just about the same. I've now found part F, thanks to Jason Eaton it's from a MPC Star Destroyer. Still looking for the others. L RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - Wombat - 05-10-2014 You and all have done an incredible job finding so much of this. The last couple of parts if you cant find them could be scratched/subbed pretty easily or of course theres always printing these days if you know anyone thats good with a computer to draw the parts up. You could get those printed if the analtivity level is high enough. ![]() Part B could be a model part or even something else like a couple of control knob from something. RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - LeeS - 05-12-2014 Part L is driving me nuts as I really want to find it. I think it's off an old PC/electronic component, not a kit part for sure. RE: Red Dwarf Bigature - KrokoHunter - 02-12-2016 #K looks like it could be from a Gundam kit |
