Something off topic.... 1/16 Bandai Hummel! - JAWS - 04-10-2014

Ok, so I sold this to my Mother inlaw really cheap....
Half what I paid for.
My Fatherland spotted one in my collection.
Went on about the kit & how he wanted to build one.
Short of cash I sold it to her to give to him last Christmas.
So he's built it now & asked me to paint it.
During construction he painted some parts.
As amateurs do, even after I told him not to.
All good, but then the Mother inlaw got the shots cause I primed over what he painted....
Anyway that just makes me want to paint it more!!!!
So I've primed the model & looking to clean up some small building issues, the paint.
It's been so long since I've painted.

I see X-Wing Greeblies! And more! Big Grin

Very nice looking Hummel. I guess you used Tamiya Fine Surfacer? It´s the best primer on earth.

Early Turbo Laser Turret!

Yeah Tamiya primer.
Agreed the best.
I know you like your military models Stefan.
I've seen some of your works & are as impressive as your Sci Fi.
Well your Sci Fi is mind blowing & military very impressive.
The old boy wants camouflage paint scheme.
Desert yellow with red brown, forest green with light sand dots.
Heavily weathered.
I like doing the tracks the most using brown base a light black wash & then some varying orange & brown tones washes.
A slap of gun metal, a light dry brush with a metallic grey & they should look heavy.

Looking forward to see more. Am i wrong or have you built an Sherman a couple years ago? I remember a military model that was olive drab in relationship to you.

So that kit looks like that if we were to actually build em..

Looks good even in primer.

The paint and weathering on this will be right up your alley mate. It'll be one you can have some proper fun with.

It's just a pitty you have to hand it over when done.

Yeah I'm looking forward to cutting loose on the weathering.

Base coat.

Very nice! Looks like fresh out of the factory in Duisburg.

Just mixing colors from phot ref.
Im only using like four colors & mixing & matching.
It will help blend everything together.
The ol boy wants camouflage paint scheme.
That's something I haven't really done before so I have got some good photos to use for reference.
I will post them so you can see what direction I am going to go.

It's off to a good start Jase!

RE: Something off topic.... 1/16 Bandai Hummel! - JAWS - 04-29-2014

Started on the tracks.
Primered them then airbrushed brown with a black wash.
Next will be a dry brush with a dark metallic followed by a gun metal.
Finally an orangey wash for restless a light silver dry brush for certain areas like the track teeth where would wear down to bare grinded steel.

A. Little metal on the equipment.
Most equipment such as drink bottle caps, eating canisters were made from aluminium. Thus the light metallic colour used.
Just need to tidy some spits & give everything a light wash.

A little work done.
This is my first camouflage pattern painted.
Scheme taken from actual tank.
No weathering done yet.
Just some misting.

Lookin great . After the weathering process this will be a real gem !!

RE: Something off topic.... 1/16 Bandai Hummel! - Mr. Wabac - 05-26-2014

Tracks look great - some people make them too rusty, yours have a nice amount of dirt/dust to them.

It is an impressive kit when built.
Love the camo scheme.

looks really good mate, I was just going through my Hummel kit last weekend Smile

RE: Something off topic.... 1/16 Bandai Hummel! - Wombat - 05-26-2014

Looking damn good there to me and very impressive already even without the weathering side of things thrown on it.

Gonna look fantastic when ya finished with everything you still want to do.

Nice going
It's a shame tamiya doesn't bring out more 1/16 models a bit quicker
Like this one, will u add a figure?
Saw one of these in Adelaide about two years ago in a shop with anther old 1/16. But I was on holidays and moving around a lot so I couldn't buy it. Also the price they were asking was to much for me at the time

RE: Something off topic.... 1/16 Bandai Hummel! - JAWS - 10-18-2014
