Studio Scale X-Wing RED 5 - Stefan Hacker - 04-22-2014

Hey Friends! First Studio Scale Thread here at this great site. I got this Nexus X-Wing fuselage from Stu (Eagle1) with a few greeblies from the donor kits. My job is to finish this Bird.

Can anyone help me out with those brick sheet pattern? I googled a lot but i found no good source to order those sheets.

Do they still make that? Assume you're talking about the Holgate and Reynolds HO scale brick sheet?

Yep that's the stuff & pretty rare...
Unfortunately not in my inventory.

Update on the Chickenwings! That black stripes as you can see on the second images are carbon to give the wing more strength.

Thanks Jase! Means a lot to me. And yes i plan to build an 32" Falcon with some special details maybe with interior. I always wanted to have one.

Yeah maybe the interior would be helpful but the details on the Deagostini aren´t that good.

Update!

I turned a new master on lathe for the Taim&Bak Cannons. The plan is to build different versions for each side. Next step is to laminate them with Plastic Sheet.

This is the Sherman part that was used on the cannons.

Ready for rubber! How cool is that formwork? Anyone recognize it? Big Grin

Okay here are some new pics but the progress slowed down a bit cause i started another nice lil fighter. The E-Wing from Frank an Moe.

I removed the lil chips on the lower fuselage and replaced them with new ones to fit better for Red Five. The reference pics aren´t that sharp but i did my best to make em right as good as possible.

Scribed some new panellines with the help of dymotape.

I modfied an Mustang pilot to look as an Rebel Pilot. Aves is your best Friend. Wink

Joe at first i used the Breddermann R4GB that starts to harden in 4 minutes but i changed to the G12GB that gives you more time to suck the bubbles out of the molds. I use an Vacuumchamber for my Casts http://www.pk-pro.de/PK-Vac-Professional-Vakuum-Kammer-10L-Vakuumpumpe-VP280
BTW if you want to change the color of the casts you can add a few drops enamel color.

And for the saws i use this tamiya saw: http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/images/74018.jpg

and the Airwaves saw set but i guess other manufactures like Hasegawa are also good as this set: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AEM009

I asking myself right now how Red 5 would look in Episode VII. I guess like a rusty pile of misery.
