GalacticaModels - Cylon-Knight - 04-25-2014 Hi everyone, I didn't know what section to post this in... figured it was best here. EXCITING NEWS - GALACTICA BUILDERS!!!!!! If you've not heard the Galactica - I mean "THE" ... the original - Galactica has just recently undergone a total rework to return her to her full original glory paid for by Universal. There is new buzz about Glen Larson doing a Galactica major movie and GoldCylon (Dale) is trying to establish a fan base that can give a voice to Glen and Universal that the original Galactica herself can - and SHOULD - be filmed once more and this time grace the BIG SCREEN! Below is his announcement copied from ByYourCommand.net. Dale and I were talking on the phone last night and I told him for sure we needed to post this up on the Studio Scale Modeler Forum. His work schedule is upside down now so I'm happy to help spread the news that THE GALACTICA just might fly again!!!! If you can join to show your support, please do... together we can re-launch the last Battlestar! GoldCylon Wrote:My good friend (insert name here) who owns most of original filming models from the 78 series. Rag-Tag-Fleet, Cylon Raider, Vipers, Cylon Baseship, and the Galactica. He had me make the offer to Glen Larson as the middle man these ship are available for the new movie. To a degree the offer has been accepted, but don't get overjoyed on the next exciting part. A Universal licensed vendor paid to have four model building pros take (Planes, Trains, and Automobiles) last weekend from Canada, California, and 2 unknown location to the East Coast to make the repairs. One person was there 1 week prepping, and then the non stop work began. My good friend said the entire weekend was non stop, and he only had 4 hours sleep the entire weekend. Once the repairs were made the official photoshoot took place. Yes this was a Universal copyright event. This sounds great doesn't it, well it was only pennies to Universal to do this, and means very little in using these for the new movie in the works. The news is positive and great news, but Glen Larson Production needs a push, and that push needs to be done in numbers. All Studios like numbers, and I am collecting numbers via Facebook. I am trying to collect 20,000 members on a dedicated facebook page to track those people that want to original filming models to be used in the new production, and is film ready. So check out the page, and request to be a member. WE CAN DO THIS!!!! P.S. There is also more exciting news peppered around in some of the facebook posts about what is going to become of some of the new photos. Its still a bit *hush hush* ... I'll just say you'll want to "bookmark" the site.
RE: GalacticaModels - JAWS - 04-25-2014 Well this is great news & whilst I knew of some of these happenings there seems to have been some other developments which sound even more awesome. Can't wait to see what the crew did with the old girl. RE: GalacticaModels - darkimmitator - 04-25-2014 Bout time !!!!!!!! How many times can you remake a spiderman movie or the hulk . One more Battlestar Galactica movie won't hurt . RE: GalacticaModels - Richard_2001 - 04-26-2014 Gentlemen, As one of the crew who gave the model a fresh face lift, I can assure you the Battlestar Galactica is in spectacular shape. It is closer to its original state during filming now than at any time since 1978. Richard RE: GalacticaModels - Wombat - 04-26-2014 That woulda been really something. You lucky bugga you! It's really pleasing to know that the old G is looking spectacular still after all the years. There hasn't been too much seen of it since the Battlebuck pictures and it looked ok back then. With some things now fixed up on it that needed correcting it really is the best it's looked since them late 70's. Must looking amazing in person! ![]() Lets give Dale some support with his Facebook push fellas and who knows what will become of it. ![]() RE: GalacticaModels - Cylon-Knight - 04-26-2014 Thanks for the help guys! The fans will be heard if we speak loud enough. ![]() @Richard *bows down* I'm sure with your skills and the work of the other masters that went in to bring the Galactica to glory that she is ready for any Basestar we Cylons got! *worries* lol RE: GalacticaModels - GoldCylon - 04-26-2014 Hey guys Dale here, and I have to say all the news about the relaunch has been great news. I have been working closely with a few people in this effort, and still have a ways to go, and have more news to come real soon. Not to distract from this page and thread, but I personally will be keeping most the updates on the facebook link Cylon-Knight posted. Keep the faith that the Big "G" will fly across the big screen again. RE: GalacticaModels - JAWS - 04-26-2014 Got me. RE: GalacticaModels - LastBattlestar - 04-26-2014 Great news guys! Let's hear some more details on the resto weekend. How much work was needed? From the pics it seems like there would be quite a lot to do in terms of styrene panels lifting off, visible cracks etc. C'mon, give us the rundown Richard. ![]() I can't imagine much mo-co filming would be done, but possibly a CGI ship scanned form the original? Somebody do a BookFace vote for me please! Mike RE: GalacticaModels - star-art - 04-27-2014 Here is some more info. I started a new thread in a section that might be easier for people to find. RE: GalacticaModels - LastBattlestar - 04-27-2014 Dale, I just joined BookFace especially to share in the BG Models page. Add me! ![]() I'm looking through it now with Nikki's account and there are some cool people there. Mike RE: GalacticaModels - Richard_2001 - 04-28-2014 (04-26-2014, 08:00 PM)LastBattlestar Wrote: Great news guys! Mike, We did a fair share of re-gluing parts as the original glue was 36 years old by this time. Most of what we did was add little parts that were missing, and replace parts that when they were added the last time proved incorrect due to better vintage reference this time. The overall effect was to make her look as much like she just came off the filming stage as possible for her latest round of portfolio shots. Richard RE: GalacticaModels - LastBattlestar - 04-28-2014 Thanks Richard. I was surprised that you only had two days to work on it as some of the problems I can see in pics would require more extensive repair. I guess the original patina of the model should be preserved as a total tidy up and new paint would be a tragedy. Galres2014. Nice. ![]() Mike |
