Gold Leader Ywing, with a dash of spice! - Ralphee - 01-03-2015
Hey all
Thought it time to come out and get my mojo back on, with some build threads. Been having a nice long break racing model cars and general shenanigans, but, work recently resumed on an old flame, my studio Ywing.
As most of you know, i took John Currilas awesome kit, and decided, nah, Red jammer isn't for me, so i decided to do my best replicating the Gold Leader Ywing, from the much coveted reference.
The cockpit has been completely sanded out, panel lines filled and rescribed, as well as new chip plates added to just bring it closer the the Gold prop.
New engine cans from original parts, and my good friend Julien, helped me out with some of the plant on castings.
Many new parts were ID'd by John, so these are added to my build thus far, with a few twists the eagle eyed may notice, these are added for a reason, to make this Y, now a very specific model.
Still so much to do, and time permitting ill drag it kicking and screaming over the finish line soon, with hopefully, one hell of a bang on paint job, angling for help my good friend Mr Cowen in that area haha.

It'll be a while Jase, still some parts to find and add, lots of niggly bits haha, did add a couple of lovely finds missing from the generic Y hull casting, thanks to Julien for that, it'll get there.

Yeah those parts behind the neck are a pain to find, if we do find them, be nice to add them and post some lovely pics. Im betting yours looks superb in primer buddy!

I've been looked for that large part with notches in it today with no luck.
They really throwed in the first parts they found haha.
Mine is not as clean as yours !

Haha, nah just the one Michael! If all goes to plan the paint will be applied by probably the best studio painters out there, and yes, thats obviously not me! Ill be working on this tomorrow anyhoo, got a clear pattern!
