Narcissus - LeeS - 05-29-2015 After a two year build, three years of research and much more before that from Simon, Martyn and Paul in Auz, my Narcissus has completed it's build stage. And now has a little primer painted. :-) As you know this will be a kit at some point in the near future, although with improvements and resin castings of the kit parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Narcissus - wizardofthenorth - 05-30-2015 Pretty...the last photo of it primed, really brings back that scene from the opening of aliens with the narcisus drifting silently through space to the salvage operator...(technically a different model and all I know). RE: Narcissus - JAWS - 05-30-2015 Excellent Such a nice build. RE: Narcissus - 3phase - 05-30-2015 Looks so good with all the kit parts before painting. RE: Narcissus - dsp5500 - 05-31-2015 Beautiful work! RE: Narcissus - darkimmitator - 05-31-2015 Outstanding build !! RE: Narcissus - ColinSMT - 06-01-2015 That looks great Lee. Well done! RE: Narcissus - dbhs - 06-05-2015 Amazing - can't wait to see it finished. RE: Narcissus - Wombat - 06-19-2015 Looking like just gonna be another Lee Stringer build... You all know, one that is simply stunning! ;-) Great subject and outstanding clean work once again, Lee.. Some final paint, decals and grime and this thing is gonna be sweet mate. :-) RE: Narcissus - LeeS - 06-21-2015 Little update, decals and the first round of weathering (some decals needed to go on after) ![]() ![]() ![]()
RE: Narcissus - Tsophika - 06-21-2015 That looks stellar! RE: Narcissus - Wombat - 06-21-2015 Jeepers.. That's a lot of decals!! Didn't realise there was that many markings on this thing. Looking daaamn good already!:-) RE: Narcissus - LeeS - 06-21-2015 The decals are deceptive and they changed! On the underside a large amount were added during filming. There's an early shot with just a couple of decals there, then later many more appear! For the rear the miniature has almost none, but I made decals based on those seen on the full size set. It's upto you what you want to use. There's many more tiny ones that can be added to the rear if your hands and eyes are up to it :-) Have a look at the smaller insert on the right of this image, you can clearly see the 'original' underside. ![]() And for the rear section:
RE: Narcissus - Wombat - 06-21-2015 I see what ya mean about them adding decals to the thing as they went. Thats strange that they added so many after already filming it for the movie. It's not like they just added a couple either. To me it does look like they filmed it added some more, filmed more, then added more, filmed again if those are all sceencaps i'm looking at above. Guess they never really expected anyone to notice this. Looks like a lot of work to lay em all down but they really do add to look of it. I like that you've done the full size set markings for the rear of the miniature. I'm sure there will be others that will want to apply them also even if there are not present on the original. I'm thinking things must look a bit bare in that area compared to the rest of the ship on the original then. Does it actually still exist? Theres no real good ref of the ship that i know of and i take it is another that was lost to the world? Keep up the great work mate! :-) RE: Narcissus - LeeS - 06-22-2015 Yeh the rear would be very empty without them, it's also pure white if you are making the ALIEN version. Most don't realize only the front half is weathered. The rear was covered with the retractable cover and thus clean. Personally that's going to look to 'odd' and I'll be weathering the rear a little, but there will be a clear line and separation front/back. The original disappeared after filming, so there's a few places that (for now) remain a mystery. L RE: Narcissus - Wombat - 06-22-2015 Disappeared makes it sound like no one really knows where it went and that could mean it was destroyed after filming or even taken by someone perhaps. Perhaps it does still exist then and may even be unearthed at some point even though i guess as time goes on the less chance it'll ever show up. Be nice to know one way or the other what did happen to it. Didn't realise that half of it was clean as and that only the front was weathered. I thought the retractable garage covered it fully but just checking that out then i see that it wasn't. Wow that is some difference between the exposed half and the covered half alright. Not really sure what i would do there in the case of keeping things accurate to the original miniature. Understand it'd look a lil odd as you said staying true to the original look though. You can always look at it that the craft is early post Nostromo evacuation with what you are planning. Of course you could also just build that retractable garage for it. :-) RE: Narcissus - LeeS - 07-18-2015 After the 2001 Aries showed up out of the blue.....anything is possible :-) RE: Narcissus - LeeS - 07-19-2015 Aaaaaand it's done! I guess I have to post pics in the complete folder :-D
