BBTS St. Exmin Valkyrie - Joseph C. Brown - 05-31-2016 And, the insanity continues! ![]() Yes, Battle Beyond The Stars, 1980, Sybil Danning playing St. Exmin the Valkyrie - her sleek, pointy... spaceship, right, spaceship (staying focused here) This is one of those spaceships that I wanted to have my own model of ever since the very first moment that I glimpsed it. On the Shout! Factory 2011 DVD/Blu-ray release, there is a glimpse of what was planned for this ship vs what was actually used: [attachment=17651] As built: [attachment=17652] (very tentative) Parts List Monogram F-15 Eagle 1/48 Tamiya. 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 232 Schwerer Panzerspahwagen 8-Rad Lindberg / Glencoe Lunar lander Airfix Saturn V Tamiya 1/35 20mm Flak38 Sd.Ah.52 Tamiya 1/35 German 88mm Gun Flak 36/37 Tamiya 1/35 German Hanomag Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Airfix SRN4 Hovercraft Hasegawa-Minicraft 1/72 Leopold Plastruct 6mm spheres lots of sheet styrene My (rough) working drawings: [attachment=17653] Cutting and gluing: [attachment=17654] My best size guesstimate is 7 inches wide by 13 inches (or so...) [attachment=17655] Starboard side: [attachment=17656] Forward / nose / bow view: [attachment=17657] More as I get the chance; this ship and Cowboy's Freight Hauler will be at Wonderfest in 4 days! [attachment=17658] RE: BBTS St. Exmin Valkyrie - LeeS - 06-03-2016 You're going to force me to make one of these ![]() What's the canopy made from? RE: BBTS St. Exmin Valkyrie - Joseph C. Brown - 06-07-2016 (06-03-2016, 08:29 AM)LeeS Wrote: You're going to force me to make one of these The canopy and the corresponding ventral 'bulge' came from the 1/48 Monogram F-15; the kit came out in 1979, so is quite eligible for this build. [attachment=17729] [attachment=17730] Use the aft portion of the canopy for the top, and a second full canopy on the ventral side: [attachment=17731] RE: BBTS St. Exmin Valkyrie - Joseph C. Brown - 06-07-2016 To continue the documenting: Primer on: [attachment=17736] [attachment=17737] [attachment=17738] RE: BBTS St. Exmin Valkyrie - Joseph C. Brown - 06-07-2016 And more primer on pics: [attachment=17739] [attachment=17740] Followed by - (gasp!) preliminary completed pictures! [attachment=17741] [attachment=17742] The reflective tape in the engine compartment effect worked nicely - far, far faster and easier than trying to cram a light and a battery in there! [attachment=17743] [attachment=17744] I will endeavor to take some nice 'finished!' pics and post them in the appropriate area very soon! |
