1/24 T70 Xwing - Ralphee - 07-26-2016

Been tinkering with this one for a bit. Its based on the Launchbay model, but in 1/24 "studio scale" rather than the reputed 1/18th of the disney printed models.
Using 2mm styrene, and its still very early days, but things are starting to take form now. The rear butt shroud is shown here in rough form, and still needs shimming before the hull is joined and fully blended in.
Wings will be static open, like a Salzo, and once drawn, laser cut in acrylic. Luckily i did get some good dims from the concept maquette, that have really helped scale the whole thing in 1/24th.
Once i finish the inner lower structures, i can join it all up from here, carry out the aforementioned blending and shaping, and complete the scribing, nose, cockpit tub, wings......im tired already haha!

Cheers Mark, its been a challenge forming 2mm into some these crazy contours, but patience was key haha, and Plasweld, lots of Plasweld!

Bit more progress on the hull. Just a bit more clean up needed on this part then all scribing and detailing can be completed. Made a start on cutting the engine cans from ABS.
Its coming together nicely now, and really enjoying NOT being stuck on the studio scale rails, nice bit of fun and freedom, wings will hopefully follow very soon.

Thanks Dave, yeah the buttplate was kinda fun, rough replication of the 3d model, but toyed with in original donors, still not finished it up yet!
