F&M B wing. - Ralphee - 06-23-2017 Well now Gold 5 is complete, its time to get this one back on the bench. I did a LOT of work to this model, then stalled while i took a hiatus. I can now find the time and passion to get her back out, finish up the minor build work and, finally paint her. Ive decided on a base coat, which i feel will work VERY well with the pattern Bill George used to weather these birds down, too dark a hue and the weathering will darken her way too much, more on that after this weekend time permitting. Ive managed to decide on many of the paints to be used, and with the help of a good buddy, we seem to have the correct blue used from Floquil stock, to detail. This blue is a pretty rare colour, but luckily we managed to obtain a specimen that is being created by Archive-X paints, so yes, this model will be fully painted in period ILM hues, or as close as its humanly possible, and it seems I'm homing on on the correct greys too, used to further dirty this model down. Ill document the paint up here, looking forward to finishing this one up at last. Lee

RE: F&M B wing. - Ralphee - 06-24-2017 Cheers lads. Yes Marvin, I'm pretty excited about this blue we found. Ive seen the swatch and its just gorgeous, nice to be so interested in colour TBH, makes a change from finding kit parts .Lee RE: F&M B wing. - Turrican - 06-25-2017 Wow one awesome model after another. Had the chance to get one of this kit's as well, but just passed cause of running out of space here. Well...love to see your build than. RE: F&M B wing. - Ralphee - 06-25-2017 Cheers Stefan. I just got done tapping the grub screws into the wing axles, what a pain, but now they have a good bind so they won't flop about and they lock in each position pretty well. A few hoses to add to the hull tomorrow and i can get the base coat applied. Then just wait for the Archive-X paint to roll in to get the nitty gritty underway. It is a lovely kit, mastered so well, never been a huge fan of the thing, but painted, yeah i think it'll grow on me some more. Lee |
