Probe Droid scratchbuild. - Ralphee - 08-12-2017

So i started out on this a good few days ago. This is being built from the vacuum formed pieces myself and a few others helped become possible.
Its quite a challenge in trimming and patience, but also very rewarding, and a ton of fun, which is how the hobby should be.
All in dry fit form still for the most part. Once all eyes are trimmed ill begin bonding, and then work on the finer kit details and clean up.
Then on to the body, thought id get these two parts done seeing as I've never built them from the ground up. The arms themselves are pretty easy so don't concern me as much.

Another eye on the way, just a few more to do, and i can get past the roughing in phases and start bonding and clean up.
Plating should be marked out today as the top hat has now been cut to try get a good placement.
Having so much fun with this one.

Looks like a very cool build and also very clean parts to work with.

It is a lot of fun, doing the eyes is kinda cool, just trimmed a couple more up as it goes, just need to rig up a wiring hole now, and then its one more to go, then i can start bonding and the plating work. Should have some nice updates to this soon, keeping very busy.

Nice Lee! Still love that head with the eyes and details looking like warts and all.

Looking forward to what you will do with the Archive-X paints on this. I know you guys put a lot of research in yhe paint on your first version so it will be really nice to see what you come up with withthe new paints coming out.

The eyes are much easier when you get just a couple done buddy.
From there you kinda get the curvature in your head and start free cutting, once you get the cut close, you just shave the inside lip until you get a good flush fit.

Yes pretty stocked to test what may have been used on the droid afterall, not a grey either funnily enough.
Long way to go yet though and so much else to work on, hence I keep my online time at a low these days and do my talking at my work bench........ Smile
