SS 3D Printed TIE - Hammer3246 - 01-04-2020

Courtesy of Alain Rivard.

Beautiful clean kit, it's amazing what can be printed with a commercial SLA printer, highly recommended.

He can be found on FB.

That does indeed look really clean.
No sanding needed on the surface?

Was it printed with a resin printer?

RE: SS 3D Printed TIE - Hammer3246 - 01-18-2020

Thanks!

2 minutes of sanding and yep, resin printer.

Which commercial printer was used?

Sorry,  I have no idea. It was purchased as is.

Alain has models on CGTrader.com, but I couldn't find the TIE Fighter.

Looks nice. Is a pilot figure included?
Could you please post a close up of the wings? I'd like to see how the cool shade pattern turned out.

Maybe try him on Facebook.   I think he's on the RPF too.

Sorry,   no pilot.  When I'm home again post a picture for you.

RE: SS 3D Printed TIE - Turrican - 03-14-2021

Stumbled across moderlermagic over Alan's Tie Interceptor.
https://modelermagic.com/a-kuhn-global-kit-review-studio-scale-3d-printed-tie-fighter-tie-interceptor-kit-parts-made-from-alain-rivard-prop-shops-stl-files/

Compared to other Studio Scale kit's how accurate is it?
Does it has the correct scale and details?
The Nice-N ones had some warping wing's (as i read on some thread's), but those are the only ones which were close to screen used
as far as i know. Well and also no longer to get.

I'm still a bit distrustful what belong's to 3D printed kit's.
Mostly you can clearly see the print lines or the detailing is not as accurate as regular resin castings which comes from original kit parts.

RE: SS 3D Printed TIE - Hammer3246 - 03-14-2021

I'm not too versed in the TIE, but it does look great and no real print lines for the most part. Resin printing doesn't really produce any if done right and the detailing looks great, of course not quite the same as plant on or casting.

I really like it and since an actual kit is hard to find this fit for me.

Hi Hammer,

thanks for the reply, will have a closer look at it.

Thanks for the picture. The details look pretty decent. I'll definitely give this kit a second thought.
