Hello - Jawa74 - 04-24-2020 Hello My name is Rodolphe I am French I am 45 years old I have 3 children and we are all big fan of Star Wars movies. I am a modeler I started making model kits at 6 and I made my first own model scratcbuilt at 20 and I started a military model company U-models at 30, 15 years ago and now I have around 500 references mainly WWII and WWI, kits update set accessories, and figures. Now I am a father and I would like to share my hobby with my kids with a first fun project. While we were watching the news Mandalorian series on Disney +, I decide to start a Star Wars modeling project with the Jawa Sandcrawler, so any help would be much appreciate. I am started from scratch I have no data no blueprints, no measurements and no part list of the kits used to make the orginal studio scale kit. So thanks in advance for all your support in my familly modeling project. Rodolphe
RE: Hello - JAWS - 04-24-2020 Welcome. You've chosen a difficult model for your first replica. RE: Hello - Jawa74 - 04-24-2020 (04-24-2020, 07:49 AM)JAWS Wrote: Welcome. You've chosen a difficult model for your first replica. Yes I search on the Web and on the forum and I realize that some kits will be very hard to find like Aurora Sealab, Bandai 1/48 kits, and Tamiya Sherman and the tracks links will be a challenge. I am thinking at two options for now, a long time one making the real one studio scale but it will take me years to find all the kits, or perhaps down scale by divide by two using 1/32 scale Sherman parts and 1/48 scale parts for the 1/24 kits like harrier and scratch-built the other parts. I saw somewhere that the original movie model was around 1/35 1/36 scale so divide by two it will be around 1/72 scale could be a cool project too. The two first steps for me are 1) I have to find good measuring to make a corell draw drawing of the main structure panels to laser cut them in MDf 2) Find a exhaustive list of the kits and parts with their quantity needed for the project. I saw there is some very interesting topic on the forum that will help me a lot. I saw also that you have this project too, and that you have bought the mdf kit, I see their website but it is very expensive for MDf panels $950.00 ! Have you identified all the parts, will you make a RC model of the Sandcrawler or a static one? Kind regards, Rodolphe RE: Hello - JAWS - 04-24-2020 Yes Marvin Stiefelhagen's kit is expensive. But is the most accurate. You will be able to source castings of kit parts through the group. Which will help. RE: Hello - TazMan2000 - 06-08-2020 Information on the Sandcrawler is difficult to find. A unverified measurement on another forum said that the length is 43.5 inches. Measurements from a known part that I made supports this as I calculated about 43 inches. TazMan2000 |
