Look at what I got! - erospawn - 04-06-2010

Part of what I ordered has arrived.. Pictured below is lots of various electronic components, all the stuff that makes sounds or flashes lights. Its part of the order I was waiting for... There's still more to come so I think my lighting woes are over.

Me too! I hope you'll see fun in the bags I send you, Don. I'm always jealous when I see someone else get new electronic components, as I usually have to scour ebay for mine. These usually come from old components that I have to tear apart to get what I need out of them. I don't suppose you need any vintage gear too, do you? Tongue

Good find on your part, Ron. Build something, and show us soon! I want to see pretty lights. Heart

Ron,
Yes, I know what you're up to and just like I warned you before it ever arrived- color me green with envy! That's okay though for I shall live vicariously through you and the new worlds you are about to enter!

Chris,
You know I'm up for "anything" but while the guitar strings could fit in an envelope I really don't want you to incur a hit from the post???

$2.00 - $5.00 won't break me,but I need to find something cool to show everyone here. But since I'm at a loss maybe I can send you some groovy goodies, and you can show everyone some coolness until Ron can put something together. I love lights, lights and more lights......

Well, I've been monkeying around with PIC programming the last couple of days. As with anything new, there is a slight learning curve..

I played around with it and wrote a program.. it didn't work. I tried several times.. then finally, I found a "known good" program that supposedly worked... and it still didn't. At any rate, after two days of playing around..and total frustration, I had an idea. Finally I had a break through! It turned out that I didn't have some configuration stuff set properly.. kinda tricky stuff in the beginning.. think I got licked now.. well, until I try some new tricks Big Grin ..

Anyway, I wrote a test program just to make sure things were working.. anyway, all it does is more or less a one way Cylon effect or Knight rider effect??? They start all on and one by one all go off.. and then they all come back at once and start all over again....

Pretty! Thats a shit load of stuff you got partner! Best friend, pal, champ.....I got a big project im workon on &...... Honestly good stuff Ron. I think this is right up your alley & will be a profitable side business. So first up I need one of those J2 core sets for my Pod. Its probably smaller? What do I need to give you so you can make it the right size?

RE: Look at what I got! - erospawn - 04-09-2010

I took a look at the video from Fuzznoggin..watched what it did.. It would just take some time to write the program. I'm not sure how many lights there are on the varying sizes of the J2.. and it needs a switch or combinations of switching .. such that pushing the switch changes what the lights do.. speed up, slow down etc..

So, once the program is written and debugged.. there's the circuit that goes along with it.. I can design the circuit, but to be "professional" I would need to get the circuit board made by some company out there.. I'm not having those nasty chemicals in my house Tongue Once that's done, I could solder the components in or you could.. basically, I'm thinking I could probably offer slightly cheaper..

Also keep in mind.. I still love building models.. and mastering them too.. I'm waiting for the V'ger to be done and I will be making a lighting kit for it I do believe.. and then I have my next master in mind too... and lets not forget my Fine Molds Falcon that came in.. and well, my ISD that I just got today Big Grin

RE: Look at what I got! - JAWS - 04-09-2010

ORRRR did you get the watchamakallum ISD?

RE: Look at what I got! - erospawn - 04-09-2010

the "A" ISD?? The one Directorcass has? Yep.. sure did.. let me say its very very nicely detailed and accurate! and in all honesty, no warpage.. a little bit of flash.. but looks like everything will fit together very very nicely!..

OH.. I quickly re-wrote the program.. now the lights go back and forth Big Grin

GOD, Ron - that's beautiful! Even though it's not a billion lights like the "Disco Prize" I've unfortuanately seen one Botany Enterprise become, but this is so great to see lights - especially ones that chase sequentially. Smile
