Master replicassnow speeder rehash - Apophis - 05-12-2010

i have been working on this MR speeder for about two months, a bit longer than I wanted due to me having to move out and move in etc...
I first was able to remove the right air brake box and laser cannon.
I then ground out the air box and made a new hollow box and filled it up with greeblies and fabbed up a new air brake.
next up was the body mod, a large panel missing under the cannon. I thus ground out the body and filled the crevase with greeblies again, and then painted the red markings and various replaced panels.
Next up: redo the base!

I was gonna do this to mine but had to sell it, I think Matt Meyers did one of his.
I sent some pics to the owner, and he likes it, so im doing good so far!

I gotta give all you guys credit for doing something like this, taking a collectible and enhancing it the way you do.

I just wouldn't have the colleones to attempt it!

If I like the model, but dont like the paint, I usually change it, if there are upgrades or a differnet versions out there I will change it, i just like being different.

Damn, Jerry - how did you get that red so intense? It looks just like the studio model, but you already knew that.

Hey Chris, its 2 parts caboose red, 1 part reefer orange, i wanted the red but with a tint of orange like the studio model, now as for the other red orange, its suposed to be a red oxide color, bit its too red, so i will tone it down a bit with some black soot pastels and a wash of burnt sienna.

I don't remember the red panel being exposed in the movie, but maybe I should watch Empire again. I wonder why it's so intense inside these panels - and I wonder, why red?

Well, for starters, the misssing panel was off of Lukes speeder after he crashed, the maquette has this missing and i have a pic of it, secondly, the inside is or was supposed to be red oxide primer like you would find on the interiors of ships and other "out in the weather vehicles" thats the only thing i can come up with.

Here ya go Jerry & Cris. Who is to wonder why the ILM boys chose this color. All I think is its a very strong color used on strong machines that us mere mortals marvelously construct. Big Grin

I know Matt did one and I really liked what he did, but it wasnt my idea, the owner of the speeder said he wanted his to be similar to Matts, so i said okay, and viola!

Looks good. The weathering looks really cool.

Is it going to be "in flight" above the base or is it going to be crashed into the snow?
