Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-01-2010 I already have a few things wrong but I guess that make it mine
RE: Tie Bomber - bwayne64 - 06-01-2010 Looks great to me. I love that ship, it only gets a few seconds on screen, but it stays with you. Very nice, Cheers, Joe RE: Tie Bomber - JAWS - 06-01-2010 Hey Hammer it looks pretty good to me too. Ive got 99% of this ready to go. Bought mine as a to be Kit Master from unfortunately a not so reputable builder. If you need anything let me know. Keep at it. RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-02-2010 Thanks guys, my screw ups are inside the panel area so its not too noticable. I am looking for some of the 1/700 ship parts if anyone has some extras or casts I would love to take/pay/beg them off your hands.Cheers Ron RE: Tie Bomber - KrokoHunter - 06-02-2010 Hey Ron It looks great. I hope to get going on mine soon ... The circumventing scribings on the chilidogs has caused me serious troubles and delays (been on the backburner for a year now), but I should have a small lathe up in a couple of weeks, and this should push the project somewhat foreward. RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-02-2010 That's where I'm having problems too. Never imagined they would be such an issue. RE: Tie Bomber - 427 Cobra - 06-03-2010 I'd just use PVC pipe. Unless this would make it harder for you. This looks good so far, what do you need to make this look more realistic, or correct? ~ Cobra Chris
RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-03-2010 Hi Chris To make it right I would need to redo the wing extensions, I put them in backwards and cut the notches too long and wide. I filled the notches with a different part from the Leo than the norm. I think I have it pretty close, other than that I'm waiting on some more models and hoping someone can come through for most of 1/700 ship parts. RE: Tie Bomber - MonsieurTox - 06-03-2010 (06-02-2010, 04:37 PM)KrokoHunter Wrote: Hey Ron I had the same problem. Very hard without a lathe... The scribings are about 1 mm wide and 0.3mm - 0.5mm in depth. I made a tube from sheet paper which was able to slide around the acrylic pipes, this way I was able to draw the lines perfectly parallel. Then I used dymo tape as a guide to my home made scribing tool (I made it only for the Bomber), using the lines. I should have used PVC pipes (as ILM used) because it's softer and easier to scribe than acrylic... Took me a whole night to get all the lines done. ![]() Hammer, your bomber looks great. I cant see any problem with the wing extensions... RE: Tie Bomber - JAWS - 06-03-2010 Hammer give us some pictures! We love pictures around here... RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-03-2010 This is pretty much it for pics right now. I may have had a break through on the lines around the tubes, I'll post some pics of that if it works out. Cheers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
RE: Tie Bomber - 427 Cobra - 06-04-2010 Do you need someone to turn this on a lathe for you? RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-04-2010 I'm going to shop around town tomorrow there are quite a few machine shops, hopefully I can get it done. She's comin along real nice. How did you figure out the cuts for the right tube pod? RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 06-04-2010 I drew out a template, did a rough cut and filed until it looked close...filled in where I was too greedy. It's not 100% even, I scratched the "tongs" just to see how it looks. The actual parts should be here soon. Cheers ![]()
RE: Tie Bomber - 427 Cobra - 06-05-2010 It looks pretty damn good to me! ~ Cobra Chris
RE: Tie Bomber - KrokoHunter - 06-08-2010 Hey Hammer She looks mighty fine to me ... Hope I get that lathe issue solved soon, because these pictues has given me the URGE to get moving on this project

RE: Tie Bomber - JAWS - 07-17-2010 Hey lookin good. Did you cast those parts yourself? they look well done. Nice work. RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 07-17-2010 Thanks. Yeah I did do some casting they're passable from a distance. I can't seem to get rid of the air bubbles, I might make 3 casts and have only one that's well enough to use, but i'm learning and thats the main thing
RE: Tie Bomber - 427 Cobra - 07-17-2010 Very good. Are you going to put a cockpit in this? ~ Cobra Chris
RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 07-17-2010 I plan on giving it a go, I don't care for red and blue wires

RE: Tie Bomber - JAWS - 07-21-2010 WTF! Oh hell that looks so kool! What did you use for that? Man Im lovin it! RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 07-22-2010 Thanks Jason I made it with parts from a Trumpeter Flak 38 and the Tamiya Hanomag, the inspiration was from eagle1's pit. Cheers RE: Tie Bomber - KrokoHunter - 07-22-2010 I'll see Jases WTF and raise with a OMFG .. that is just awesome .... great inspiration for the cockpit I'll put in mine .... I'll try not to make a complete replica, though ... ;-) RE: Tie Bomber - 427 Cobra - 07-22-2010 (07-22-2010, 05:30 AM)KrokoHunter Wrote: I'll see Jases WTF and raise with a OMFG .. that is just awesome .... great inspiration for the cockpit I'll put in mine .... I can't stop looking at stuff like this, especially when it's in unpainted form. ~ Cobra Chris
RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 07-29-2010 A few more parts + details + touch ups = done.
RE: Tie Bomber - JAWS - 07-29-2010 Hey that looks really good Hammer. RE: Tie Bomber - Hammer3246 - 08-05-2010 Well that's it. I have the Shinano coming, missing Scharnhorst, Junyo POW and Stuka. They're not that visible so I can wait to find them, other than that i'd say it's finished. Cheers ![]() ![]() ![]()
