Mission built Raider - jon pollock - 06-03-2010 Hey all, while it's not quite finished here are some shots of the Raider I was challenged to build w/o modifying it. Actually, I left out the bar across the engine vents so I de-modified it..lol... the spaghetti pattern, a design I've always loved on the German warplanes, looks very erie under different lighting conditions... totally accidental. This was a nice diversion from my obsessively long build of the HMS Hood. I would appreciate any suggestions for finishing. THX RE: Mission built Raider - dbhs - 06-08-2010 Looks great. I like the colors you used. Is the spagetti pattern free-handed with an airbrush? It's very subtle and looks good on this ship. RE: Mission built Raider - jon pollock - 06-08-2010 THX dbhs. I was hoping for a subtle appearance, not quite as dramatic as some of the Stukas I've seen... some type of variant w/o the swoosh marking. I used an air brush for a large portion of the job, black muddy washes to replicate oil or other incidentals, and dry brushed steel for highlights/ worn paint. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I think I may add a bar code and number on the side of the cockpit- panel, as the only call marking. RE: Mission built Raider - dbhs - 06-09-2010 Cool. I like the barcode idea for call sign marking. |
