1/650 scale Enterprise D - REL - 06-16-2010

There's a lot of pictures with this project, so I will post them here over the next couple of days starting from the beginning so as not to overburden the thread with pics and make loading times inconvenient.

Starting from the beginning, making the cross sections out of plexiglass.

Filling with expanding foam.

Putting on a bondo shell over the foam.

Sanding smooth, and coating with several coats of gap filling primer.

I also added a layer of fiberglass over the bondo so it will be an extremely hard shell.
Making the pylons by building a wooden form, heating the plexiglass and bending it to shape.

Wow is the word. thanks Rel for sharing the build process with us. I know Ive picked up some good tips when I get back to tackleing the Falcon dome plug.

Nice clean building... complex designs made simple by greatly skilled builders. Maybe someday when mommy lets me have a shop I can play too... for now it's the drafting table...lol
