RE: Sudio scale escape pod - LeeS - 07-15-2012 I'm interested too! RE: Sudio scale escape pod - Gans - 08-23-2012 Any news on escape pod ? RE: Sudio scale escape pod - qcfoundry - 08-23-2012 Little birds are telling me that there is work on it -- that the resin kit is being updated and will be re-released. Rumors only though. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - JAWS - 08-24-2012 Escape Pod kit is being reworked & possibley coming online before the years out. Im sure the crew involved will post a sales thread when it is. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - mslz22models - 08-26-2012 Hey Guys, the reworked pod landed at my place just yesterday......still a little work to do but getting there. I am going to start molding the kit parts this week. thanks mike RE: Sudio scale escape pod - LeeS - 09-28-2012 Any update/pics/estimated prices? Want this one for sure, need to save some pennies. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - mslz22models - 09-29-2012 I am about 85-90% done with the molding, just got the main body mold done yesterday. The main body is going to be rotocast and foam filled, and since kit parts don't come out all that well with rotocasting, at least not as consistent as i would like, almost every kit part is cast separately. i think the only other kit i did with so many plant ones was the BSG shuttle, it's not a lot of fun to be honest.... Keep an eye on the RPF for the update from Dave, he will be doing the sale and shipping, I really am just the mold maker and caster on this one for the most part. I will say that i am planning on shutting down the casting in mid Nov until about mid March, I hate casting in the cold, plus it gives me a chance to build some stuff for myself and concentrate on some pattern building thanks mike RE: Sudio scale escape pod - qcfoundry - 09-29-2012 to help a little further from the previous post -- "dave" = "vaderdarth" on the boards ...for all who may be interested in picking this up. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - roboterkampf - 10-13-2012 I'll be making the instructions for this one, too and cannot be more excited. Also, if you're not an old hat with resin garage kits, compared to the Neisen Red Y-Wing and the Vaderdarth Probe Droid, this Escape Pod will be a stroll through the park - a classic iconic ANH model that is a pretty straightforward build. It's also an absolute joy to paint. And oh yeah - I have the waterslide decals for this puppy - and they are true silkscreened opaque decals, not that ALPS stuff. I cannot wait! RE: Sudio scale escape pod - gluejunky - 11-18-2012 is this the one listed on rpf for $650 ?? for the size of the model it seems very expensive, out of all the people intersted in the kit, only 3 bought one, that should say something ![]() i was wanted one, but i cant justify it at that price
RE: Sudio scale escape pod - jedimaster - 11-18-2012 It's actually quite a large model. $650 is pretty much the going price for a studio scale resin kit nowadays of that size. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - mslz22models - 11-18-2012 It is large, but unfortunately the real cost on it is based mostly in the amount of greeblies. I had to make 16 full approx 4inchx 7 inch injection type molds for just the greeblies. That does not include the body, other big parts, and engine bells. It took a lot of mold material, and it takes hours and hours to pour, demold and reset 16 full molds of tiny kit parts, more than i care to remember. The issue is that all of those had to be cast off the body because the body is rotocast and foam filled, rotocasting does not capture fine details like kit parts consistently enough like pressure casting, rotocasting is best for "naked" big parts. I did my best to keep the casting fee for Dave low but it's an extraordinary amount of labor, i could cast 2 "normal" kits in the time it takes me to cast 1 Epod, maybe 3, and if Epod parts are in the pressure pot, I am not getting anything else done. I totally understand the sticker shock on it, I think part of it is that it's a secondary ship so it's "value" is not as easy to calculate as something like a viper. I hope that Dave can move an few more in the spring, but i totally understand if it does not move as well as the PDroid, which is another kit that has tons of parts......I need to get back to some simple kits, these kits with like 200 parts are killing me..... mike RE: Sudio scale escape pod - jedimaster - 11-19-2012 Cheers Mike.... Thanks for the boost...he he.....the Narcissus has twice as many kitparts as the epod. Should have them all finished by the 60th anniversary for the film. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - mslz22models - 11-19-2012 Thanks, hope it did not sound like i was complaining, just wanted to clarify the why.... I have to admit i have not been following the Narcissus stuff, are you guys doing a "kit", or just offering the kit parts? Sorry, understand if it's a secret. Again, sorry to vent about the Epod, the last year has been almost all casting other peoples projects, Y wing, Pdroid, Epod. Got a few new scratchbuilds in but nothing in the usual subjects. Looking forward to taking on a few new subjects over the winter for possible kits..... thanks mike (11-19-2012, 08:27 AM)jedimaster Wrote: Cheers Mike.... RE: Sudio scale escape pod - jedimaster - 11-19-2012 Full kit Mike.... Resin kitparts, resin engines and wing clamps , acrylic fuselage, and styrene panels. 32 inch model. Then by mid feb the turbo laser turret. Same set up. Then on to finishing that At-At of yours. Then the Big stuff. ( may need to call on you for some casting advice.) Simon. Edit: if I get stuck I may have some casting projects for you. Check out the thread on the RPF Mike. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - Tsophika - 11-19-2012 Take your time, Simon. I'm poor! My new baby is coming in less than 3 weeks so I'm gonna be a bit busy. There will always be one ready when you are mate.
RE: Sudio scale escape pod - JAWS - 12-11-2012 Simon congrats on the aquisition. Will be alot more work than making kits,LOL! Im getting a hull off Mike for the EP. I have all the kit parts except the 2 fender parts still not found & the hatch lock mechanism still not found. Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on this one. RE: Sudio scale escape pod - JAWS - 02-27-2013 Got my EP hull from Mr Salzo. Very nicely cast as usual. |
