Wipeout "Beholder" the game and now.........the kit! Continued! - natter - 08-27-2010

Many of you will know the famous racing game Wipeout wild, racing cars aircraft suspended several feet from the ground through an anti-gravity suspension system ...... so why not make a model ??....
..... In the various series of this game have followed many types of vehicles, I wanted to add a me too, of course, is always based on Wipeout style, the color is obviously essential in this subject!
Everything is born of an old toy car for my son who drew much the center of this type of rocket car, the need to wait for the dead time between work and the other other models .... and this is born Wipeout " Beholder. "
The model just mentioned, missing a host of accessories and working, but the core idea is the least you can appreciate the final look.
The color? ... Maybe a orange shaded to white with a host of sponsors and numerone race! B)

Hi Marco,

This is very cool. I like the design a lot. It looks fast just sitting there. Orange and white would be a great color scheme for this. Would look like a race car. I could also see this in a colorful paint job like somethign from Homeworld. Speaking of orange I have a pic of a CGI craft that's done up in metallics and orange that is AMAZING. I'd like to try this on a physical model. Just thought of it because you mentioned orange. I'll have to find it and post it. It's good for inspiration if nothing else.

Wow - your other shots look great too. I like the bottom side as well. Here's the image I was thinking about. More red/orange and grey actually.

It's hard to believe that this CGI garbage actually looks real! Dodgy That's the unfortunate reality of todays' world. Here's another one to insult your senses: http://www.museumoftheimprobable.com/14.html

Uh Oh. Hit a sore spot. Whether real or CGI, the point was the paint scheme.

Sorry for taking over your thread, Marco. Let's see more of your build, please.

Actually, the paint scheme is cool, and so is the design. I'd really love to see this become a physical reality. If one person here could do it - it'd be you, Doug! I know you could do this - landing pad, and all! I just wonder what scale this is supposed to be in. If I can get the money together, I'd like to cast it, or something similar to it, (if you don't want to do this), and make it into a kit once I'm finished with the 1/2 scale endo arm, and X projects I have going right now. Maybe Marco would grace us with a model of this if there's enough interest?

Thanks to everyone for the compliments ... you are too good.Blush
The pictures you showed me that although CGI return good ideas to make real. I will not conceal that I'd like to create a resin kit ... would be my dream!
Here I show you my old model, it is a scratchbuild. with a orange color "racing".Big Grin

Yeah !!

The weathering and the orange paint job are cool. Very sleek and nice design. All those curves are impressive as well.

That thing looks like it could walk on water! This is what I'd love to see on the shelves of model stores. This is what makes modeling so much better than just doing it by yourself. I love seeing other peoples' ideas come to life! You're definately in the right place. Smile

Here I am!
After a short absence I'm back on this wonderful forum.
I went forward on the two old projects Beholder 1 / 35 and Twistern 1 / 35.
In this post I explain the advances of the Beholder, which are listed below: engines, nozzles, cooling systems, mechanical parts (back), various fillings.
The model is now 80% of the final result as a master for replication, has yet to be enriched with many details (panels, rivets, other pipelines, etc..)
I'll try to keep you informed!

I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks to all for any helpful tips and critiques ... or slap! Big Grin

Bye...Ciao

I love video game based scratch-builds! This one looks awesome! It reminds me that I need to finish my Star Fox Adventures Arwing and Borderlands Claptrap.

I think the racing style combined with a smooth aerodynamic, but I want satisfy those who like mechanisms, gears and pipes, for them will create a pair of side pylons in "fighter version".

You can see how I proceeded to complete the reverse side, with mechanical parts,
the frame was built with Epowood, made with my new electric saw.
I also proceeded to duplicate the side pillars to edit and produce a fighter version .

stay tuned! Ciao Bye

Given the preference some friends over to have a race version is also a version fighter too .... I thought one type with side pods with multiple loads of mechanical hardware.
Obviously this will follow a series of panels on the side pod resin copies.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRG.
After a period of rest after the great exhibition of Model Phoenix Piedmont in Italy shows I took the modeling jobs on the table there are many initiates .... but first things first ... since the Beholder is completed and has become an realy RESIN KIT I thought to try to paint i tdirectly to see the effect that makes the painting!
The my way is the version that AGR-Anti-Gravity Racing, so I thought of a color dear to me ... a beautiful orange with finished in white ..... the work is still longish because of the adoption of many jigs that will need to get over the color .... However, it was time I started the task again with the airbrush in his hand .... No I was a little rusty this time!

Just to start two quick snapshots of early stage waiting to share more juicy and interesting photos!
