1/24 Version 2 B-Wing - shadowknight - 10-14-2010

To view the building of this one and the other version of the b-wing, refer to this thread on the RPF. I think that that forum is public ont he RPF.

I decided to make the V2 out of this one and it is by no means supposed to be screen accurate paint or detail, just like my V1. This is not SS and I love the idea that I can get the essence of the SS model and have fun with it.

Here is where I am at with the paint so far. The only weathering done is the paint chipping, so these colors will most likely change a lot before the build/paint is over with.

Here we go:

Access to wiring just like my other B-wing:

Engine parts ready for thier final working:

End Cone section:

I have no idea why the wing guns look curved in this photo. Perhaps it's the angle:

And the lower guns. Again, these are mostly scratched just like my other one:

Thanks for looking.

VERY VERY NICE! You gotta love the B-Wing.

Thank you very much guys. I plan getting more paint done over the weekend.

RE: 1/24 Version 2 B-Wing - 427 Cobra - 10-16-2010

Although this isn't my favourite craft, I love watching these go from parts, to paint, to final assembly. The colours that were chosen for these are pleasing, and the weathering is excellent! Thank you for posting your build here. I don't have a lot of time to search all the modeling forums for stuff like this, so I'm not always aware of everything available. Is this still a kit, or are these no longer made?

The guy who owns the masters is talking to somebody about doing another run. As for me, I'm done pulling these. My Colonial Movers kit takes up most of my modeling time.

This is looking great. Does the cockpit rotate on the hull or did you just decide to position it so the cockpit is on the starboard side? I actually like it like that and this ship is great that it can be done in multiple positions. Very nice.

RE: 1/24 Version 2 B-Wing - shadowknight - 12-05-2010

Thanks for the kind words.

The cockpit rotates. I also made it so I can display it upright so I didn't want to make the cockpit stationary.

Looking good TJ. Thanks for the update.

As far as posts on this board go, this baby is done. I have a few little fixes that I need to do then I might throw this up for sale.

Hey TJ -

This looks awesome. The weathering, details and lighting are all perfect with one another. I may have said before but I like that you rotated it with the cockpit on the starboard side. It looks good like that and it seems your mounting location really helps you postion it any way you like. I'd love to do a B-wing in studio scale some day. I had one of the Blue Moon kits that I sold. It was a fine kit and great quality but I figured I'd better wait and do it in true SS. Must have been a pleasure working on this one... as big as it is.

Also noticed your cockpit rotates. Using magnets for this? Does it come off completely or just rotate? Can you post a pic of how you did this?

RE: 1/24 Version 2 B-Wing - shadowknight - 03-01-2011

Sorry for the late response.

The cockpit rotates by Alfreds Design. The neck is hollow:

A column runs through it:

The rear of the column rests on the back of the neck and the cockpit portion is glues to the front of the column. The cockpit rotates 360 degrees.

Cool, thanks. That's a great way to make it work.
