MaK Falke (futchfactor resin kit) - dbhs - 11-14-2010

I started my Falke today. So far most of the time was spent cleaning the parts of mold release and now I’m starting to put together some of the sub-assemblies.
Most of the parts are very clean so I think this will go together fairly quickly. Since the kit was so detailed already I was planning a straightforward OOB build but I’ve seen a spot or two that could use just a little “something”. We’ll see.

I had been putting this one off for a while because I wasn’t sure how to approach the paint job. The idea I have for this was inspired by the Homeworld design I uploaded here. I like the asymmetry of the colors and think it will work well with the Falke. For mine I’m going to reverse the red and gray so it’s mostly gray with red on one of the forward booms. The other change will be to mute the colors down similar to the dusty red and greys used on the Quonos One studio model similar to how they look here. I’ll add some white stripes and details in keeping with the Falke style. Well, that’s the idea for now unless I change my mind before I get there.
Thanks for looking.

HellYa!

I'm okay with OOB on something like this. Afterall it was a grail kit in the Ma.K. world and is known for it's detail anyways.

I'll be watching!

Cool

Is this a spaceship, or a suit?

It's MaK - that's all you have to know.......

I think you'd consider it a light tank maybe. It's armored, has a gatling gun, hovers with anti-grav generators, and a jet engine in the rear.
I was moving right along until a little slip of the xacto knife. Red will look good on this - LOL. Here's the progress today.....

The kit comes with a little scratch building built in. Keeps it interesting.

Seam fixes under way. Masking off the putty saves a lot of time.

Gatling guns are always cool.

Cool progress so far!

Gotta laugh about-"It's Ma.K., thta's all you need to know." That's not being a smartass- it's too true! You CAN'T always make engineering or logical sense of it- but it's cool!Cool

BLOOD? Um, well, I picked up a putty covered razor blade and started pushing down on it wondering when it would start cutting? I had it upside down! Oh, I finally felt it and my Ma.K. project now has blood in it too!Confused

If you're concentrating too much on safety you're not paying enough attention to your build. If I'm not working on a model I'm working in the yard or on the house. I rarely get to work on Monday without a bandaid or a bruise. Goes with the territory.......

And on the logic part...spaceship designs rarely take into account the enormous volume required for fuel or reaction mass not to mention everything else needed to make them operate. And that's ok.... its the 'fiction' in scifi. I still think the little egg suits that dominate most of the MaK stuff are silly, though.

Try a popcicle stick - I use these to save myself a lot of embarassment. This way, I can paint, sand, shape, test sharp instruments......

Hey Doug, is this the first issue or second? If its the first issue, then I helped with the build up of the master.
I had gotten one, but i had to sell it to pay the bills.

This one is from the last run he did before the license to sell them ran out.
