Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-10-2011 Special thanks to Isel & Hakan for helping out with my build. Mine has been a work in progress for a loooong time. This is my first major scratch build so there are some obvious inaccuracies because of my mistakes or finding newer reference material, but i am generally happy with its progress. Hopefully once the time comes to throw some paint on her, it turns out well....... Here are some current photos... RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - Wombat - 01-10-2011 Long time or not, that looks fantastic to me!! Thanks for sharing. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - JAWS - 01-11-2011 Wow MikeG she looks damn sweet. Doesn't matter how long it takes to build her. Youve been dreamin of it since you saw the beast on the big screen. Nice work. Thanks for the update. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - LastBattlestar - 01-11-2011 EXCELLENT Mike! You just keep posting build pics, old or new. We just love seeing ambitious models come together and this one looks pretty tidy indeed! Mike RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-12-2011 Thanks guys! I hit a creative wall working on the falcon so I am working on a couple other projects in-between.... I hope to get back to it soon!! RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - kbilly - 01-30-2011 That looks incredible mate, the amount of work you've put into it really shows. Any more pics? RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - scratchy - 02-01-2011 She looks beautiful! A long time you say, Just how much up to this point? I have to ask, since this item is still up in the air for me.... What did you use for the radar dish,.... The tanker end cap, DV TIE display base, a plastruct flat dish, or a vacuum formed piece of styrene over a flat dish? Very nice work. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 03-22-2011 scratchy, I used the amt tanker cap for the radar dish. i know there is debate if its the correct part or not, but i used it and i think it works well. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-06-2012 Here is another update on my falcon build. It may not look like there was much progress since my last post but there was some new stuff built. I have tried to revisit some of my inaccurate areas and rebuild them with better references. I gave myself a deadline of 3 months to finish this beast. If anyone has access to the 1/35 Tamiya M60A2 and could make some casts for me i would be indebted to you!!! Thanks mike RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - jcuri1 - 01-07-2012 Looks Great Mike !! RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - Wombat - 01-07-2012 Something about seeing the builds before any paint that looks so cool. That looks fantasic where ya at with it! Good luck on making that deadlline you've set yourself there. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - joewhite - 01-07-2012 I agree! When I build all resin kits I can't wait to paint it, but SS or scratch-builds with different color parts just look so cool! Cool build, Mike! I hope to be there soon! BTW, what donor kits are the engine exhausts made from? Joe RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - kbilly - 01-08-2012 Can't agree more. This looks fantastic! and with only 3 months left till you finish it, I expect we'll see a lot more updates soon
RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-09-2012 Thanks all, I do hope to have more updates soon! Joe, I scratched the engine vents. Part of me suspected them to be taken from a large f1 kit (modified wheel hubs possibly?) RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - joewhite - 01-09-2012 Cool, thanks! Joe RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - swfan78 - 01-11-2012 My favorite MF build!! Isel RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-24-2012 A small update: Added the radar dish base and piping. Also added some piping and Akagi parts to the access pit opposite the dish. Thanks Cory for the Entex bits! RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 01-28-2012 Built the rear engine deck fins. Now i need to mold a bunch of them. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - JAWS - 03-30-2012 Bump! RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - peza - 07-03-2012 eh up just wish to say nice build mym8,i`ve been buildin my 32" for 3 years so far on and off,i`m lookin at yours with envy.i`ve only had 3 panther tanks to kid bash with.mainly cos i could`nt fabricate the back deck part,or just could`nt justify the time it would take.lovin ya work and wishin to ask if you have any good images of the underneath by the rear landin legs.cheers peza (01-24-2012, 01:00 PM)mikeg Wrote: A small update: RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - Ktaylor - 01-27-2017 MikeG- That is lookign AMAZING!!! Where did you get your castings for the 6 round engine vents on the rear deck, they look great! I'd love to get a set! I'd like to get castings of those F1 parts that connect the upper hull to the Mandibles as well, that sit on top of the bulldog parts. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - Turrican - 01-28-2017 What a bunch of work. Looks really great so far. How many hours you have spend into this till now? RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 02-01-2017 I am finally getting back into my build after a way too long of a break. Ive been re reading most of the research threads and getting up to speed. Ktaylor: I scratchbuilt one engine vent and then made casts & I am not sure that the mold is good anymore... I received casts of those F1 parts from someone. Turrican: I have no idea how many hours. I started the build in 2009 so there are some areas that are not as accurate as some of the recently found information. But I have really enjoyed this build. RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - mikeg - 04-04-2017 II've started to lay out parts for the cockpit..... RE: Another 32" Millenium Falcon build. - Imurme - 04-05-2017 Oh cool, I'm looking forward to seeing the cockpit come together! Please keep us posted... |
