Hello from Georgia - TCSloan - 01-13-2011 New member here..just ran across this site while surfing. Looks to be a great deal of fun and lots of info. For a bit of a background on myself, Ive been modeling for most of my life, as a profession for about 4 years, and still do occasional commission work. This was mostly on German armor and fantasy figures. But I cant let go of my favorite past time..scifi..and mainly Star Wars. so hopefully I'll get some more of those done. Im really interested in doing some large scale kits. Im used to 1/35 armor and 1/32 aircraft,so the studio scale models really look right for me, maybe not my wallet though ![]() anyway..heres my wesbite for some samples.. hope to see you around. http://timsloan.daportfolio.com/ RE: Hello from Georgia - propologist - 01-13-2011 welcome. Cartersville? Cartersville SUCKS! Greetings from Snellville neighbor.
RE: Hello from Georgia - dbhs - 01-15-2011 Wow - very cool work on your site. I really like the historical figures, especially the two on the far right with the battle axes. Reminds me of my D&D Mini-fig painting days. What scale are the the figures? RE: Hello from Georgia - TCSloan - 01-16-2011 Ahhh.. Hello there SMellville ..and your right, CVille does suck lol Thanks DB, theyre all 54mm except for the Spartan, which is 75mm. I sure had some fun with them, but have to take long breaks in between RE: Hello from Georgia - dbhs - 01-16-2011 The minis I was painting were 25mm. I was just at the point where I felt I was getting good at it and then moved away to college. I haven't touched one since. Now that I've gotten back into modeling I've caught the Studio Scale Bug.........it's a tough one to shake. RE: Hello from Georgia - TCSloan - 01-16-2011 lol, once you go big, you never go back .. Ive painted many of the mini..many minis ...I always liked the Dark Sword minis myself, since theyre based on some of the great art works from D&D, Dragon Lance etc.. like this one http://scififantasymodels.fotopic.net/c1265801.html and then theres the Reapers of course. I still have a box full of em stashed away somewhere http://scififantasymodels.fotopic.net/c685716.html RE: Hello from Georgia - dbhs - 01-16-2011 Those are great. I have a set of the Dragonlance Draconians that I never painted. The details were just too fine and I didn't want to screw it up. I found a pic of the box art that the minis were based on. I always loved that painting with the Draconian leader yelling at the scout "What do you mean we're lost ?" .Ral Partha had some really good quality minis too. The Confrontation series from Rackham Miniatures is nice. Such fluid lines in their designs...like these: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=24706.0. I just wish I had more time in life to do everything. These tiny minis are so time consuming. I posted some pics of mine over at RI a few years ago. If the pics are still there I'll post some of them. RE: Hello from Georgia - dbhs - 01-17-2011 Here's some of the last minis I painted and a diorama I made with the white dragon set. RE: Hello from Georgia - TCSloan - 01-17-2011 for some reason its not letting me see the images. RE: Hello from Georgia - dbhs - 01-19-2011 They must be in one of the members-only posts and being blocked here. I'll have to upload the images here. It's been a hectic week so couldn't get to this until today. here are the pics. RE: Hello from Georgia - TCSloan - 01-24-2011 Awesome! I love the dragon scene. Very creative. |
