32" SS Millennium Falcon - scratchy - 02-08-2011 Well, I may as well place a thread up here with the rest you guys. This Falcon will lie dormant in the meantime, it's more of a kit collection and supplies accumulation project right now, until I can acquire enough parts to be 100% certain of the proper dimensions for the shape of this "Hunk of Junk" ![]()
RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - JAWS - 02-08-2011 Thats the way Jay. Nice start. Will be an interesting build with your capabilities. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - Aurora - 02-10-2011 if your using josh's plans then you will be good until you get to the ribbing for the dome. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - kbilly - 02-10-2011 Got to start somewhere. Have you got any dimensions you're 100% certain of ?

If these are the plans that are in .pdf format, then yes, they look pretty good. However, I will use the parts to be sure. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - scratchy - 04-16-2011 Hi guys, can anyone offer some information which kits these two highlight parts come from. I'm guessing that the purple strip is a scratched piece that was needed to cap-off the Tyrell part ![]() I'm in the process of laying out the kit parts to get better measurements for the portside mandible. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - Mensaboy - 04-16-2011 the green (most of it) is the front of the turret, roco gepard, the bit under the airfix matilda wheels looks to be putty after some close evaluation i think the purple is a slice from the other Tyrell transmission half RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - scratchy - 04-16-2011 Thanks Mensaboy! I'll have to give those Tyrrel parts a closer look. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - MonsieurTox - 04-16-2011 Jay, what did you use for the channels ? I havent been able to find the right size in the Plastruct line... Not wide enough, not thick enough etc... Yeah the green part is from the Roco turret. As for the purple, I was like Mensaboy and thought it was from cut from another transmission part : ![]() But after a close look to the pic of Mike Fulmer building the strips, I noticed it was just stock styrene sanded to shape... RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - scratchy - 04-17-2011 That Tyrell end piece does look like it's a scratched addition, however, what you guys did for your part, trimming a section and glueing it to the end really does look more consistant with the details. MT - the strip that I have shown in the pic is from Evergreen Scale Models. Those two pieces are #159 .060X.250" (1.5X6.3mm) 1/4 Scale 3X12 strip..... which really doesn't look good enough, they're just a little thin. I also have the #169 .080X.250" (2.0X6.3mm) 1/4 Scale 4X12 strip which looks a lot closer to the reference..... I'll be using this piece. I glued two pieces of .060" styrene together to make the back plate which the Matilda and Tyrell parts are glued to and it looks really good. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - MonsieurTox - 04-17-2011 Thanks J ! Gonna buy some Evergreen C-strips, and strip-off my parts from the styrene plates lol RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - scratchy - 04-17-2011 (04-17-2011, 09:54 AM)MonsieurTox Wrote: Thanks J ! That sucks!.... not that you have to go purchase some strip styrene, but you have to go back into the work you've already done. RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - MonsieurTox - 04-18-2011 Dont worry, I already did it once (those were my V2 mandible walls ! :p). I use to do everything twice or more (mainly when I paint a model... Need to strip the paint off 3 or 4 times lol). RE: 32" SS Millennium Falcon - peza - 08-16-2012 eh up buddy have you done anymore on ya build mym8.....peza |
