Wow thats looking real good Jerry. Am looking forward to this build up.
Thanks, Jase, im at a stand still for right now until i can decipher some of the other parts, and i need to get the right domes for it,( i got the wrong ones).
I could really use a top pic and a rear pic, but i dont think any exist. Yes, i cant help myself but say it twice, I finally got the f-4 engine, so i will be making a mold of it and cast a few. I also still need to order the domes, sometime this week when i get a chance.

Hey Jerry
Looks awesome ... Can't wait to get started on mine .... Just need the tubes, the discs and another Leo .. and I good to go on the main structure .. Oh and learn to cast, so I can cast the parts from my Doyusha Yamato :-) Will be following this build ..... Looks like you have some better shots of the aft sections, than I do ;-)
Cheers

i did order the correct domes today and hopfully they will arrive soon! I did order the wrong ones several years ago by mistake and just never got around to getting the right ones.
Until there are better pics of this ship i will just use my imagination to fill in the gaps. i would really liked to have gotten the doyusha yamato, cause there are a few more pieces from it to use on this one, so i just ended up modifying the tirpitz main guns. I have come to the conclusion that the rocket parts that are on this ship cant be from the airfix sat V kit. The third stage part(which is used on the x-wing engine cans) is just too tall, unless the tubing that makes up the internal structure was cut out to fit the stage inside, thus reducing the hight to fit level with the yamato bridge section, the tirptiz bridge sticks out too far and prevents the yamato bridge part from rising high enough for the 3rd stage part, and if it did the 55 chevy floor pan would not fit level as it does now. Does that make any sense? you can see the height of the bridge and tirpitz bridge and the chevy floor pan in my pics.

Correct-it's also too long as well-may have to scratch it,also most of the front detail from the leopold parts are all off set slightly-it's a right $%&%!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you could post your references Jerry?

Got the correct domes friday and installed them onto the AQ, i must say that inorder to have the domes sit straight and level you need to trim the sub hull to accomodate the curve.
Also, im posting a pic that shows the tirpitz bridge and yamato and also with the 3rd stage part. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow this is looking great Jerry! What is that Bridge Tower off? Its Frakn huge!!!!
03-18-2011, 08:23 AM
Thanks jase! The bridge section is from the 1/250 doyusha yamato kit, this one i have is a resin casting from boba flint.
As you can see, the saturn v 3rd stage is too tall to fit level with the yamato bridge. One of two things are afoot, either the tubing (white stuff) is cut allowing the sat v part to sit lower or the airfix 1/144 kit isnt used and there is another kit smaller? i was thinking of the 1b but the 3rd stage is the same piece.

It's not the Airfix part-it's too long, too tall and too wide-the raised pointed part on the side is the wrong shape too..
![]() Also the AMT trailer part is only on this side.

I didnt notice that the landing gear was only on one side, lol!
That is a rocket part, but what manufacturer? it does have tubing on the inside and a dome on the end. did aurora or lindberg produce any rockets in a smaller scale than 1/144?

I agree on this wonderful find! towarsd the rear of the yamato bridge you can see the beveled edge from the leo part AND, along the side those little "bits" show up on some of the pics we have, though faint but the spacing is correct.
Im hoping i will have the answer to the rocket stage part soon, someone else has already built a version of this ship and has the correct stage already on his model. i did PM him and hope he will respond.

Beautiful work fellas.

Thanks Jase, this is a simple model to build, as SS models go, the really hard part is finding the correct parts.
It probably be a weekend model for you!

Well, here she is right at the moment, sorry some of the pics may be mixed up! But also as a note, another kit has been found! It is the same Johan 34 mercedes kit that is used for the triangle ship.
the three rings under the domes comes from the inside wheel backs and the axel part w/ the drive shaft attached. enjoy hoomans! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Im nearly finished with this one (build wise) then off to painting, i will paint it grime color, i need some white, Hmm, maybe the same color as the millennium falcon?

Nice job with the build up there, it's looking great!
The paints gonna really tie it all together. Keep us posted!!
04-29-2012, 11:36 PM
Thanks Phil, Ya know, I really dont know what color to paint itLOL! Im gonna have to research that! I know in the screen grabs it looks a bit grey, but in the photos that Gene, provided it is definatly white with some weathering done to it, Hmmm, I will get back wit ya on that!
The cake is a lie!
04-30-2012, 07:30 PM
I think sometimes the painting can be even more stressful than the building. In the case of any of trying to replicate a paint job anyway. If it should be white then i'd say do it white. I use ta try for the on screen look but these days i think i prefer to go for the actual studio look of the subject. But thats just me. LOL
05-05-2012, 08:50 AM
I hee ya Phil, thats why im going to go with a grime /white mix like the falcon, because, it was the same guys that built all of the Star Wars models that built all of these, for the galactica movie, after the movie was done they moved out and the ones that stayed were known as Apogee and then when BSG ended, what was left was called Universal Hartland that finished BSG80 and Buck Rogers, so, in lieu of the info of the guys that built SW ships, i think they wouldve used the same paints and techniques on these as they did on those eh?

Great job Jerry, the primer really gives it some kick. How you guys are USing those parts from those crappy pics is amazing. Heck, I'm not all that good at it as I rely on castings instead of buying kits these days for budget reasons. Talk about standing on the shoulders of kit ID giants and relying on the generosity of others!

Looks great in the primer as it did beforehand without it.
The primer just ties it all together at last. I bet ya hanging for them paints to land there now. The colour you are going with sounds good to me, i think it'll look good going that route! Nice work mate, keep the updates coming!!

Jase check Phil's thread I figured out the bug. It is related to the settings in your control panel for number of posts to display per page. It's a software bug.

Thanks yall! Ive had more compliments on this forum than on the RPF! I guess they dont like BSG?
This is a fairly inexpensive ship to build, ive got maybe $800.00 tied up in it, and the only cast part is the yamato bridge, all the rest are the actual kit part. I should have the paints here Tuesday or Wednesday, so it will be a go for the base coat and some grimy black for the receses.
