2001 Orbital Defense Weapon (USA)

One of the miniatures I've wanted to recreate for some years is one of the 'bombs' as seen in 2001. Specifically the US one that is the first one seen.



I picked up 2 very good pictures of the miniature a few years ago and made decent scans of them. They show the details well. Knowing that many of the miniatures were huge I feared this might be too. So far I've nailed down a few parts, thanks to Keith Scaife!

I've started to make a 3D replica using the known kit parts to scale from.

This will guide a cnc/laser cut set of pieces.





Still a ways to go, but getting there.

Just under 3feet. But I might revise that slightly smaller...

Does anyone have an Adams/LifeLike Atomic Canon kit? If so could you either take some kit part scans/pictures as I can't find a single one online :-)
I'm looking for kit parts!

Thanks for posting a link to pictures of this version of the Atomic Cannon.
The kit you have, from Revell, is a reissue of a version originally produced by Renwal - this is unfortunately not the same as the Adams/SNAP/Life Like kit

...oops!

I had not thought that there had been a big difference between the Renwal / Revell kits and the Adams kit until I started doing some image-hunting.  The Adams kit version looks to have much better detailing on virtually all of the parts compared to the Renwal / Revell kit.

I just received an eBay purchase of a built-up Adams Atomic Cannon - what parts do you still need measurements of?
