I've been on Starship Modeler and Hobbytalk for several years now. I am a avid fan of Star Trek and Real Space models along with Aurora Monsters kits, Marvel, DC, and recently monsters resin kits or busts. I have mostly put together the plastic kits but over the past 1.5 years veered towards resin for the higher quality an specific models that I wanted for my collection.
I have just recently obtained a professionally quality 5 and 10 gallon pressure pot. I still need to purchase a vacuum pump and parts for a vacuum lid. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what cfm pump I should use for either the 5 or 10 gallon pots? I was told a 6 cfm should be fine for the 5 gallon but what about the 10?
I've only casted in a small 2.5 gallon harbor freight pot a few times with mix results mostly due to not obtaining a strong enough vacuum and pressure. Any suggestion for what resin or silcon rubber to use besides smooth on Mold Max 30 and Smooth Cast 300 and 320 would be appreciated. I heard that Silpak is real good but they are about twice the cost of Smooth On.
In the next few months once I get setup if anyone needs anything casted I would be glad to help.
