That Tyrell end piece does look like it's a scratched addition, however, what you guys did for your part, trimming a section and glueing it to the end really does look more consistant with the details.
MT - the strip that I have shown in the pic is from Evergreen Scale Models. Those two pieces are #159 .060X.250" (1.5X6.3mm) 1/4 Scale 3X12 strip..... which really doesn't look good enough, they're just a little thin.
I also have the #169 .080X.250" (2.0X6.3mm) 1/4 Scale 4X12 strip which looks a lot closer to the reference..... I'll be using this piece. I glued two pieces of .060" styrene together to make the back plate which the Matilda and Tyrell parts are glued to and it looks really good.
