When I was designing this I found a pic of the original under construction that showed just how off center it was in the rear. I submitted it to CR and said if we didn't match this, none of the parts surrounding it were going to fit. It's pretty shocking, isn't it? Still, now that you know what to look for, you should be able to spot the asymmetry pretty easily when you look at pics of the original.
And, yes, having it covered in greeblies really does help disguise things a bit. Also, since it's on the bottom of the ship, I'm sure they figured no one was ever going to get a good enough look at it to notice. . .
