That may work if you can find that material thin enough. The flexing bit and paint cracking may be an issue though as you mentioned then it may not also. If you can find a small piece of it thin enough it'd be esay to find out.
Hows the rubber situation there? A small part i'll be needing back soon as all your incredible work has me moving on again. Well that and just burnout for looking for part's for too long. Bad news is this next area is the same, just theres less to find.
