I think if you put a couple of small magnets inside the skin of the bay, in the name plate area. Then you could use thin sheet metal for the name plates. As long as it's steel it should paint fine, and be stiff so no paint cracking. Just don't get those super strong neodymium suckers. Cause you might rip the skin off your launch bays, LOL.
